184bhp over 177bhp worth it?

Hi guys, looking at an e90 and wondered is there much of a noticeable difference between the two engine types. I know on paper it's only 7bhp and 30nm torque but wondered if you can feel the difference in the drive.
Thanks,
James

The more the better I say. I doubt you will notice the 7bhp or the torque tbh.

Can they be remapped any more than a 177 or do they both increase by the same amount?

Remember that the BMW Performance option is available for both engines, and I believe that the 177 has greater gains such that if you had both a 177 & a 184 with the BMW Performance upgrade they are all most similar. I would be rather swayed by the spec of the car you're choosing and get as many of the options I wanted rather than worry about the engine. i.e. I'd prefer to have a 177 with Xenons vs. a 184 without.

Good luck with your choice

Agree with GMS.. Get the spec loaded as much as you can.

Also remember any increase in power means less MPG... Its a scientific fact.. There is a reason why they set these engines to the BHP etc that they do and its optimal co emissions which means fuel efficiency... My remap has cost me about 5 mpg.. over all.

Totally agree spec is the key, if you go down route of a remap or bmw performance kit you are looking around 200bhp. Mine with the pack and exhaust rolled about 205. At same time on motorwal I still see 58mpg when driven normally. Around town its anywnhere between 42-44mpg but these are short runs.

Recently with cold weather that dropped to 38 but could be fact I do sometimes no more than 4 miles in a day not good for a derv
