A good exhaust shop could custom fab one up for much less.

It's much higher quality and they have it thought out and engineered nicely

I would like to ride in a car with it first because the first one the drone was horrendous and they claimed a "zero drone exhaust." Don't get me wrong, the exhaust sounded sick on my car and I loved it, just too unbearable.

Please bring pictures of it to an exhaust shop and tell them you want an exhaust like that and see what they tell you. I would love to see what they have to say to you.

when their gen 1 exhaust came out and they listed their price, i actually did take my car to our local exhaust shop (had many friend's custom exhausts built there, very good quality work) and had them put it on a rack to inspect fitment, length, etc...showed them pictures on my phone of the HPF exhaust with the v bands, polished pipes and mandrel bends. i remember they asked me how much it cost and when i told them, one of the employees chuckled and the other busted his chops laughing. i won't disclose their final price out of respect to them and HPF, but it certainly wasn't even in the ballpark of what HPF charges.

just because it's a BMW and HPF makes it expensive, doesn't mean it's the best quality product in the world. a nice product definitely, but BMW guys, especially on this forum, seem to feel if they can't buy an overpriced, bolt on item from a vendor on here, that it's suddenly not worthy to be on a 3 series.

remember when AR came out with $800 downpipes and everyone and their brother thought they were so high quality and needed the price tag to justify the workmanship? and here we are years later and we have DP's made by macht schnell, raceland, and now VSRF that fit perfect, have exceptional build quality and are half the price. where are all the people that were screaming "AR Design" now? let's not forget the $1000+ intercoolers that most of you bought even when forum members with trials and datalogging have proven that a $350 Big Tom intercooler can produce the same, if not better results. of course it's not bolt on, but is another $650 really worth it to be bolt on? not to me, it isn't.

i think a lot of people think that just because you have a BMW, means you have to "pay to play". look around you. who here believes 2 cone filters are actually worth $200? go to any auto parts store and find 2 filters and 2 worm clamps and viola, there's your DCI and you maybe spent $40. some of the bimmer stuff is ridiculous.

lol i was thinking the EXACT same thing ^^^... probably go something like this "umm yeah sure uhhh horsepower flow rate umm yah we yah we can do anything like that yah" lol

I still bought AR downpipes and if u were to race someone with the same car as you and he had say an ER intercooler to your big tom and AR dp's to your raceland... and so on and so fourth im am willing to bet money that you would loose that race... u do get what you pay for in parts i have almost always seen that. think about BMW's in the 1st place i love my BMW and i paid much more for it than a lexus or a honda of a comparable model.... just saying.. your opinion is valid but at the end of the day it is an opinion and i am willing to bet deep down in my hypothetical race you know you would feel at a slight disadvantage admit it or not.

Give me a name of a shop that would do it in the Nor Cal area and I'll peep it out. Everyone seems so bleh in the Sac area. Well at least with my experiences.

Actually you'd be surprised with some vbox results I had in the summer... the ebay intercoolers actually had better results than some of the expensive ones when not running meth. Downpipes had 0 total change from expensive brand vs. ebay brand. All tested on the same car using vbox real world #'s.

Won't get into the details for arguments sake, but as long as it fits the cheaper the better when it comes to IC+DP's on the stocker turbos. With upped turbos things "MIGHT" be different depending on flow characteristics of ebay parts.
