DMTL pump??

Hey I have a 2008 328i with 49k miles. I got the service engine soon light an it read code P1447 which says like "tank leakage, pump to high when switching, solenoid test"

Anyways I searched and it seems like a new "DMTL" pump will fix the problem.

Does anybody know how much they cost and if it's easy to put in, without a lift?

Thanks!

Not sure of the cost. Go to realoem.com to find the part number then google the P/N and you'll find out the price. It shouldn't be too hard to replace. It is located in the right rear of the car behind the bumper and is accessible from underneath once you remove the rear undercarriage panel. I think there is a DIY on it. A few members have replaced it. Everything is easier on a lift, but at worst all you need to do is lift the rear a few inches to get more room to work on it.

Thanks for the reply, I'll check realoem. I couldn't find a DIY guide but I did read it was somewhere behind the right rear wheel.

Thanks agajn

I'd bet the hardest part going to be disconnecting the hoses. You might need a special tool. I'd expect it to be something like the hose release tool needed to remove fuel lines.

INPA has a test for the DMTL pump. Worth it to run a second scan if you/someone you know has access to the software.

get the actual bmw code...there are pump faults and there are purge valve faults-both of which are frequently replaced on e90's with n52's. A leakage fault is usually purge valve, a current fault is usually a pump...

I dont remember the actual menus, mine is all in German. You go to e90 chassis, select engine and then it will bring you to a menu. One of them is "System test" or something thereabouts. Search through those menus, shouldnt take longer than a few minutes to find one with "DMTL" at the end.
