FBO 335i blowing smoke need help!!

Not too familiar with this car yet n I'm no
Mechanic but I can install parts. Installed Ar design Downpipes and a helix intercooler the other day. I have jb4 been running map 1 for about 3 months. With intakes, vanguard exhaust n eta charge pipe n bov. Switched jb to map 2 for dps mAp. Drove for a day n started hitting light packs if boost. When I took it hard in 4th ( automatic s mode) it cut off n went into limp mode. ( intercooler cupplers came off :/ car has been giving a burning oil smell n Grey white smoke when accelerating hard n when stopping car is engulfed in smoke. I checked all the cupplers everything is super tight now. Car is out of limp mode n boosts fine. Still throwing smoke n burning oil smell. Can anybody chime in on what might be wrong??

Blown turbos or blown head gasket.

Going catless will reveal problems that were covered up by the stock cats. Most likey you have a blown turbo seal. Is the smoke only coming out of 1 exhaust pipe? (Not sure if Vanguard has a H pipe).

A friend said it only came out of left pipe but when I stop it Serbs like it comes out of both. Also grey white smoke

Black smoke = bad. White smoke = ok.

This seems to be as common as fuel pump failures.. turbo seal most likely.. The white smoke (oil burning) is coming out of your exhaust, so that means its something internally, not oil leaking on the exhaust as someone has mentioned.

Gonna have to more then likely bring it to the dealer, after you have returned it 100% back to stock. They will probably just replace the turbo..

Sad to see how common this is!

Returning back to stock I don't c as an option as they will clearly c it was modified.. Oil catch can is what ltbme suggested as well. If a turbo seal is crapped out or both seals r crapped out will the car still boost fine n run fine?? I have a 500 mike trip I need to go on. If I don't hit boost will the car be ok for it

If your cat less this could be hydrocarbons burning up in the exhaust rather than in the cats where it is turned into NOx which helps the cats operate the way they should, also if there is no cats then there is no where for this conversion to happen there for the exhaust just burns off the HC's and not convert to NOx and H2O. Blue smoke is oil, white sweet smelling smoke is coolant plain and simple. Ask any master tech and they will probably tell you the same thing. Any thing else is dependent on the modifications to the exhaust.

Ok, I'm pretty sure I figured this problem out. I've been having the same problem. As the car downshifts (AT) to a dead stop there seems to be a cloud of smoke right? Well, I changed my CP for a ER one with my HKS I had laying around. I noticed that there was a good amount of oil in the OEM tube, not A LOT but enough.

Same goes for the front mount when I changed it out last week. So now I know that it is oil being sucked up and just being burned because the smoke doesn't appear all the time. So with that said and done, I'm sure a OCC is going to fix this problem like vereak82 said. So I guess I know a future mod LOL, hope this helps you guys

Sorry to bring this thread up, but I am having a similar issue, but mines happened when when I installed the Vanguard Exhaust. It also happens when I am getting close to stopping and the cloud of smoke is discharged. I want to say that the color is Bluish smoke. If in fact the seals are damaged on the turbo or anything related with them, I'm going to buy the RB Turbos since the price is almost the same for the stoks ones from the dealer.

If this helps, I have installed:
Meth
JB4
FMIC ER
CP ER
Synapse BOV
AA DP
Vanguard Exhaust
BMS Oil Catch Can
