OP appears to be attention whoring while never planning to pull the trigger. Evidence is that he has all the reasons NOT to do it lined up and ready to offer.

Have you ever been to M3Post? An M3 handles better than a 335 and putting a supercharger means only the heavily modded 335s can keep up in a straightline. The 335 is a great car but it is no ///M.

I'm embarrased to say that yes, I have been to M3post in the past. It's the most one sided, grandeur-dilusioned, laughing stock forum on the internet. Going to that forum would make one think that M3's are supercars that are the equivalent of Vipers, GT-R's, Z06's, etc. However- they got M3's because BMW's are more "classy" and if they wanted the other cars, they could have easily afforded it.

Fact of the matter is that they paid too much for an underperforming glorified 3 series, most are leasing actually.

It's sad that even w/a supercharger- the little brother 335i can keep up with you.

I'm well aware of stock vs stock. ///M <====means nothing to me

The M3 died with the e36.

i think doing the m3 upgrade would be just over reacting to your dissatisfaction with your current AT 335. M3 is going to be more expensive and you're already going to take a financial hit by selling the car you just bought. so why not just sell it and get a MT 335 instead of M3. you'll still take the hit but you won't be paying a lot more on your car payment and you'll probably enjoy a MT 335 just as much as a MT m3
Indeed I have also been looking at MT 335s but scared Id still be dealing with the M bug. regardless everyone bashing the M3 it is still an M, I am not planning on drag racing or street racing. It is an icon car. period.

One could say that about E90Post how a 335 with JB4 can beat a Veyron...

And since when is an M3 underperforming? It its last years it still beat the revised C63 AMG, new RS4, and CTS-V coupe.

And a lot of people here are leasing too.

And an AA supercharged M3 makes either 560 or 625hp, depending on which one you get. I don't know how many 335s make that power, but it is far fewer than M3s.

I think you need to get your head out of your ass and go for a drive through the hood in DC to see how the other half live.

True. When I first test drove the M3, I was ignorant to it's powerband and was disappointed. Then I test drove it again and opened my perspective, and that NA powerband just grew on me. Got back into my 335 and it felt like a tin can. Also, the handling/balance of the M3 was incredible.

I've test drove a number of cars since, including a GTR and 911T. Likely I'm going with the M3 when my 335 comes off lease in a couple months.

Oh please, quit the whole "with a tune it could keep up" stuff. Cars are not compared by their ability to be tuned. It's stock vs. stock. And stock it will beat your 335... and even if the 335 was tuned it will beat you on curves/turns.

Also, aside from engine performance it looks 10X better than a E9x 328/335.

Maybe some of them are a bit delusional, but well, they DO have expensive cars. Many are down to earth and came from 328/335. I tell you one thing, they are 100X more mature than people here.

the exhaust note alone on the m3 is enough to convince me to get it but it sounds like youre leasing it so that doesnt apply. yeah its probably slower but at the end of the day you have a car thats much more fun than a 335i imo. here is something your ears will enjoy:

Felt the same way but looking at those fuel pumps cured me and it's not just the price it's the frequent pit stops that suck...But if you have the itch. Rather have the 335is to be honest.

I think you need to get your facts straight and show me an M3 beating a CTS-V coupe (in your effin dreams, not even an M5 can do that), a c63 AMG (straightline NO WAY). So have a Coke and a smile and STFU, fanboi.

And there is no doubt in my mind that the M3 is a much superior car to my 335i. As was an e46 M3 to my 335i. The OP asked for advice and I gave him my 10 cents, not my fault you want to come in here and defend the mighty M3 by misinforming people about the performance facts. An M3 besting a CTS-V LMAO!! They get beaten on tracks by Mustang GT's (outhandled, outbraked, out accelerated). Where do you get your information from?

And regarding who I am and how I live- I grew up in Harlem in the 80's very poor from an immigrant family and I've lived in DC for a long time. You live in Pittsburgh, I've driven thru there- don't act like you know "DC" or it's neighborhoods, you wouldn't survive a day in most of DC. You'd either be too simple in the educated parts or too ignorant in the dangerous parts.

Quit it why? It's a simple fact- with a very cheap tune, the 335 is right on the heels if not ahead of the M3.

I agree on the curves/turns. I agree on the looks. I strongly disagree on the maturity at M3post. Go to many other performance car forums and ask about m3post and see the jeers and virtual eye rolls.

Anyhow- OP, my apologies for cluttering your thread. And apologies to those I may have offended.

Motortrend compared the RS5, CTS-V Coupe, and the M3. The M3 was the best overall car despite being the oldest. Yes the others, and the C63, will be faster in a straightline but there are more to cars than 0-60 and 1/4 miles. BMWs are not the best cars in the world, those are Mercedes and Lexus, but they are the best driving and that is why I'm here.
http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/...n/viewall.html

BTW, how often do you drive your GT-R or Vette through Harlem or "DC"? And why bring up Pittsburgh? It's a nice city whose hood is not as dangerous as other hoods in the country. It's not our fault Harlem and DC was promised all this hope and change from the liberals but got food stamps.

GT-R was my dd and went to DC almost every single day when I had it. Harlem is a shthole that I'm glad I'm no longer near there. My Z06 was my DD when I had one and it would go to DC every day as well.

I don't own a GT-R or a Z06 right now, I'm contemplating a 2013 GT500 or a 2012 GT-R.

I was only responding to your statements regarding the vehicles performance and you wanted to bring up DC so I brought up Pitt. Just to let you know, DC Metro is the most educated area in the country now.

Motor Trend does test comparos and most of the time the tests are fair. However- it's well known that they are always pro-BMW. The M3 was outperformed in every area by the Cadillac, Audi's are garbage in my opinion- so I don't disagree there.

C63 > CTS-V > M3 > RS4 > ISF

My own opinion, hence why i bought the car i got.

If you want to get rid of the 335, go test drive the cars. Your mind will be set after you drive the cars.

We have both. The M is way more, but I have no regrets spending the cash on her. Which would I prefer to drive? The M, until the snow falls. A tuned 335 is nothing like an M. Sure it may keep up with the M, but I don't have to worry about modding my M or taking it in for warranty work.

They share the same color schemes, interior layout, and E9x designation, maybe even steering wheel, but that's it.

No doubt stock for stock the M3 is the superior car, but if you don't track it, the differences isn't that huge. The 335i is a respectable performance car as well, and as many have said: when tuned and with a good sport suspension/tires, can be even better than a stock 335i.

They are too close on the streets to lose that much money over if you don't track. If you were going to something vastly superior, it'd be understandable, but they are closer than you may think.

(Although that V8 sounds awesome, and obviously the M3 is on a different level, the gap on the streets is what I am hinting at here - on the track it's bigger.)
