Thumbs down From a 2011 335i to a Hyundai Accent!

My car this morning stalled 3 times during a morning startup. The idle would fluctuate by itself up and down and then stall. So I called BMW of Murrieta to schedule an appointment to drop off the car to see what the problem was. I have a 2011 335i N55 with 9,600+ miles. They said they ran out of loaners for the day so I was dropped off to Hertz and all they had was this Hyundai Accent.

thats not so bad. When I worked at Enterprise, I put someone who dropped off a brand new Alpina B7 into a Chevy Aveo with roll up windows and such. My whole office was dying after he left because we realized how truly shitty Life Quality is with loaners. hey didn't even want to pay for the Aveo until the guy flipped out. Im pretty sure he will never go back to them anytime soon.

BMW just called me to give me an update. They said the Technician pulled an error code from the car and it's pointing at a cylinder misfire. I told him that is ridiculous since the car is fairly new. Normally, you would get a misfire around 100k miles or near it just like my Acura. Anyways, they said they will investigate further before replacing any parts. He mentioned about checking to see if the car's software is updated. This means the car is staying overnight so I'm stuck with this Hyundai.

Also, I forgot to mention earlier and I think it's worth mentioning here. There was this other person in there getting her 335d fixed. She said this is her 16th time turning the car over to them to get fixed. Her car was a 2011 model. I'm beginning to get concerned over our car's reliability. I hope it doesn't come down to that or else I will have to dump this car.

By the way, my car is still stock. I was going to get a JB4 but now I don't know.

At least they got you in immediately and took care of you with a rental of any sort. I'm sure if you wanted to wait a few days, they could have gotten you a 328... I didn't think that a simple misfire would cause to stalling. Sounds like they are looking at the first and easiest thing to find.

Sounds like some high and mighty attitudes in this thread. If you have ever driven the new Elantra then you would be surprised at how good it is for an economy car, it is IMHO the best car out there in its class.

I had a time when the guy at enterprise gave me a neon when I needed a rental after my audi s4 got smashed by an 87 year old. He felt bad and told me to come back next day so he can give me either a mazda 3 or mazda 6. Right now I'm in a camry as a school bus hit my 335.

Hit by a school bus? Be careful driving out there. Anyways, I hope I get the car back today. I'll give an update on what problem they found and how they fixed it so the rest of the folks here can have an idea what it is if their car is unfortunate enough to experience this same symptom.

High and mighty with their entry level 3 series that they can barely afford and have to lease/finance I agree, Hyndai has made leaps and bounds since the 90's and are starting to put out some quality products. A free car is a free car, I wouldn't complain and at least the company is good enough to give you a loander.

Check out Fairfield BMW there located in jersey but they have drivers that drop you off a loaner and take ur car into service. Just take care of the driver and SA and they'll do ur car right. U can request what loaner u want. I got the 12' 550M last week. That cars a beast!
