Dealer - peeling drivers pull handle..

I showed the dealer the bulletin on peeling pull handles, due to use of hand lotions, on e92 coupes (early 2007) and he offered to change it out for a "discounted" $300 ($100 for labor and $200 for parts), they would replace the the entire arm rest. Special ordered because they claim I have a rare arm rest (is that because of the coral red)???

Should I go for it? Is it worth it?

P.S. - I get a 15% discount on parts so it would be roughly $270

+1 The TSB says they have to do it if you are under warranty. Take it to another dealer and call BMWNA if they refuse to do something officially documented from BMW. Rare colors don't matter.

is the peeling door-handle worth $270 to fix? seems crazy superficial to spend money on that.

Do you have a pic? I don't own an e9x, but my door pull on my x5 was peeling and out of warranty. I got the part for like 15 bucks from the dealer and replaced it myself. All that was required was a 10 dollar trim removal tools from pep boys and about 20 minutes. Not sure if it is the same or not.

It should be on here but I'm not sure which one it is...

http://www.trademotion.com/parts/200...iagram=1942520

I would just contact them so they can check for the part number

This might help too...

Don't you have the premium package, navigation system and other superficial add-ons on your car?

they all have functions....
if you're in a situation where you can drop $270 on a peeling door handle, then by all means enjoy it. i'm not that fortunate at the moment.
