buzzing/humming sound when driving over imperfections in the road coming from inside the cabin... i took the cd out of the cd player but that didn't change anything... any ideas?

try turning off your air/heater. it could be that.

It's usually off, regardless it only happens if I go over some sort of ridge or imperfection in the road..

Sound like a high frequency spring vibrating? I hear the same in my car. Every now and then its more like a vibration related thing though, not when i hit a bump, but if the road is rough or whatever will do it in certain gears/ speeds too. Cant figure it out either.

Maybe it's a wire that fell off its support clip somewhere behind the dash?

In my e93 its always my vizor, i just simply open and close it and its done

One time I had a small black screw in the rear cubby in the middle portion of my coupe that drove me crazy until I found the darn thing. Look for something similar inside the vent etc.

So, what kind of sound is it? Like an electric pump working? Or like something loose is vibrating?

In some cars driving over road imperfections under braking results in quick activation of ABS, which is immediately followed by a buzzing sound from ABS motor restoring the pressure in the system.

No iDrive, it's weird because sometimes it doesn't even happen when going over certain types of imperfections in the road... I'm completely clueless?
