Lukoil = Crap Oil

Was severely low on gas last week and had to fill up. Lukoil was the only gas station around, had no choice. I am all for supporting my people (I am from Russia originally) but this gas is awful. My car was sputtering, jerking, and generally not performing well. I got my gas tank down to 10 miles to empty and went to BP and filled up on Sunday and the car is perfectly fine now. Didnt really think there could be such a huge difference in 93 octane gas but there is.
Anyone else have bad experiences with certain brands of gas?

I've noticed gas issues in my small engine tools (snow blower, lawn mower) but never in my car. I typically don't use anything other than Shell, Mobil, or BP for my gas. Sometimes Costco if I'm there. I don't regularly use gas that doesn't have a premium additive package to their fuel. I had a roommate years ago that worked for Exxon, and he told me how they refined their fuels, sold their extra capacity to other brands, etc.

I know people get like 30 less miles constantly and their truck runs weird with Kroger brand gas.

Personally I've had no issues with LukOil gasoline. They moved into NJ big time when they bought out a bunch of the old Mobil brand stations at thime of the Exxon/Mobil merger. However it's always recommended that you use Top Tier gasoline only, if at all possible - see: http://www.toptiergas.com/

It could be that specific station. There's a Sunoco around the corner from where I work that I will never use again. Other Sunoco stations, no problems...ever. That one close to my office caused problems everytime I filled up there.

That's probably the case - perhaps some water leaked into their tank. I've used Lukoil when needing gas on the NJTP and have used local off-brand 93 octane for over a decade. I've had no problems with 5 Bimmers and 2 Beemers and have saved a great deal of money over so-called "name brand" or "top tier" gas.

Must be just that 1 station. There are many crappy BMW service centers, doesn't mean BMW is a sub-par brand On the other hand, parent companies should inspect their franchises more diligently.
