StopTech BBK Wheel Fitment

All,

I am right on the cusp of purchasing the StopTech BBK front kit for my E90. I do a fair amount of track days and I definitely can use the upgrade.

My question is this: Does the Stop Tech BBK kit with the ST60 calipers and the 355mm rotors fit the stock Type 162 wheels? As a reminder, the Type 162 wheels are 18 inch in diameter.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks. So I printed out the template and measured it against the Type 162. Here is the result:

The BBK will NOT clear the stock type 162 wheels because of the design of the spokes. The calipers will hit the spokes right where the spokes meet the outer barrel.

However, this problem can be easily avoided by using a 10 or 15 mm spacer. You *can* use a 5 mm spacer ONLY if you do not have any wheel weights on the inside of the barrel next to the spokes. If you do have wheel weights there, then you need 10 or better yet 15mm wheels spacer.

Other than that, the brakes will fit perfectly with the Type 162 wheels!

I have aftermarket wheels as well. That's not my concern though. Here in Chicago you have to have 2 sets of wheels for winter and a separate set of wheels for summer/track. My 18" CCW track wheels will clear StopTech Trophy kit which normally requires 19" wheels.

I wanted to make sure that I can run my stock wheels in the winter without having to swap brakes.

You're welcome. Its always a tight fit inside the wheel and didn't want you to have to rely on someone else that may have a slightly different setup. The templates are a great reality check.

I also measured the rear wheels as well. My thought was that perhaps the rear wheels will fit the front brakes with them being wider and having slightly different offset. You still need at least a 5mm spacer to clear the rear Type 162 wheels when mounted at the front with ST60 caliper.

So anyway you slice it, you need spacers to clear the Type 162 wheels with ST60 calipers.
