11 E90 N55 won't boost

Hi guys,

I have a small problem since this week with my 2011 335xi m/t. The car seems to have no boost, it is very long to increase the rpm. I have to turn off the car and then start it back to get everything back in order. I would say that the problem occurs about one in two starts.

Someone has an idea of what might be the problem?
I have no check engine and I just ordered my cable, so I can't see for now if I have ghost codes.

It doesn't do this all the time? When it does exhibit this problem you can make it go away by turning off the car and restarting the car?

If this is case, you have some sort of electrical or sensor problem. Looking for codes is your best 1st step.

If it did it all the time, other than electrical, I would suggest looking for a clogged or broken catalyst in the exhaust or other exhaust constriction.

My '11 335i goes into limp mode every few months - usually after a few days without starting and I feel the car sputter for a second when I put it into D and give it some gas. As you said, turning the car off and then back on always fixes it.

Early in ownership I lost all boost permanently and restarts didn't fix it. Turned out the thermostat was stuck and the car thought it was overheating - despite nothing showing on the dash as out of ordinary. Once they replaced the faulty thermostat, everything was fine. I didn't have my OBD2 tool at the time so I'm not sure what code would have been thrown.

Mine did this right before the water pump died.

As I can see, the car looks to do it more often when it's cold outside.

I got for the first time at -25C a check engine saying ''lost power''. As the other time I restart the car and the check was gone but when I pushed the car it looks like the power cut. I don't know how to describe it but it looks like when your ABS is working like tratratratratratra and the car stop accelerating (like fire cut). When the car got warm everythings get back in order... Did get this problem only one time.

I should receive mon cable soon, I'll check the codes and let you know.
