Chassis Comparison

Hello everyone,

Please pardon me if this has already been answered, however I have tried to search the forum and have not had any good luck.

I am currently looking to purchase an 07 335i coupe sport. My main concern is the following:

1. Difference between the Sport Suspension vs. M package suspension if any
2. Which E90 non M3 has the stiffest suspension and what should I look for when looking for one
3. Aftermarket support for bracing, such as underbracing, 4 point chassis bar, anti sway bar, rear and front bar and etc.

This is actually my first post as I still have not purchased my E90, however I hope that you guys can give me some input. I appreciate any input you guys have,

thanks in advance,

Best,

Welcome. Good questions.

1. The sport suspension is the same whether the car has sport/M sport packages. M-Sport only adds the aesthetic bits over the regular sport package including the front/rear bumpers and side skirts; there are no actual performance enhancing pieces. M sport wasn't available in '07, BTW.

2. The sport suspenion is the stiffest factory suspension available. ALL E92s except xDrive models have the sport suspension in the US.

3. Yeah there's a lot of different sway bars and strut braces for the 335. Some people like me simply take the suspension from the M3 (minus shocks/springs) and ... install it in their cars. Sway bars, strut tower brace, all included.

And FYI, here's the model designations:
E90 = sedan
E91 = wagon
E92 = coupe
E93 = convertible
Just pointing that out since you referred to buying a coupe then asked about E90s. They're 90% the same but that 10% leaves a lot of questions unanswered, if you know what I mean ...

There is a difference between non-sport and sport on the US E92s w/o Xdrive.

you want sport package even if its just for sport seats! Also make sure to get one with an oil cooler.

All RWD E92 comes with sport suspension regardless of sport package or not.

All AWD E92 comes with standard suspension regardless of sport package or not.

This is not true. The non-sport E92 has different dampers than the sport package e92. I'm not sure about the springs b/c they are VIN specific and not posted on RealOEM. I have a non-sport and I can tell you that the suspension was different.

+1 on this.

Also note, the vehicles with equipped sport suspension do have different dampers/springs. They come 0.5-0.8 lower if I'm not mistaken.

When looking for a coupe do not get one without the sport package and navi. If you don't get navi you lose idrive and if you dont get sport suspension you lose the more aggressive handling, stance and seats + oil cooler.

I also believe every vehicle equipped with sport package from 08-to date got an oil cooler.

Hi guys,

Thanks so much for the reply. My friend ended up talking me into buying a Z51 C6 corvette.

The car is super nice, I like it, however I am an import guy. I have had the car for about a month, and yes its nice it feels fast, but I don't know for some reason I cannot get used to it as of yet.

I ll probably try to see what happens, otherwise I ll look for an E90 again. Thanks for all your input,

Alen
