How long is too long at the dealer?

My car has been at the dealer since last monday. I brought it in for a chatter/knock type noise coming from the bottom of the engine. I heard last week on wednesday that they had the tranny out of the car. I havent heard another thing since. I've called my service rep a few times asking for a update and he doesnt have any. Am I being too pushy? Is that considered a long time for the car to be in the shop? I dont see how they could not have something to tell me after a week...

I'm pretty easygoing about that stuff. I waited nearly 6 weeks to get my car back when the stage 2ppk and performance suspension were being installed. and whilst eager to get the car back, didn't sweat it at all. Of course, it helped they gave me a loaner.

I hear ya. I have a nice e93 335i loaner. I guess calling him for daily updates is kind of dickish of me..

As long as they didn't lose your car and you have a loner. I would just wait and have them take there time to get it fixed right rather then quick.

Seems like a reasonable time frame for me. My car was in the shop for 1+ month getting the rear sub frame replaced.

And hey - it's your car you have the right to get daily updates! It's brutal but at least you have a good loaner

Dude, IF you have a loaner, I'd kick back and enjoy the worry-free miles on someone else's dime. I wouldn't complain.

IMHO I would plan a road trip soon in the loaner, keep the miles off yours

My E90 was in shop for about 3 weeks getting new turbos due to waste gate rattle. You should be fine only a week in...

Until you get your car back with 300 miles on it and find sunglasses under the seat.

Wow, it takes 3 wks? Imagine if they stuck you with a new F30, a 335 owner would go out of his/her mind.
