I'm a new owner. Does anyone know who makes the base stereo system for my 2007 328xi coupe? I know it's not Harmon Kardon, but it sounds great. I can't find anything on the car (logos,etc) except "Bmw professional series" on the CD player.
Any help would be appreciated.

Do you have a center speaker in the dash?

ya if you have the center speaker it's a Logic7 system - if not it's just the base setup. Dunno who manufactures them though - I had Logic7 in my old e92 and loved it!

btw, take a look at the audio settings, if you can set the CINEMA option you will immediatly "hear" the center dash speaker

I'm coming from an '09 with Logic7, and my new 2012 only has the option for the Harmon Kardon.

What are the differences? I'm kinda an audio snob and will be greatly disappointed if the audio isn't as good as in my old car.

dont get me wrong. HK is really good but the bass on the logic7 is just unreal i love it.

Harmon Kardon makes Logic 7. But also, isn't the HK on the newer models exactly the same as Logic 7, just named differently? Since the Harmon Kardon on the new models has 11 speakers, with a ~400+ watt amp.

oh well the older models ive been in had HK, i didnt like the power of it. maybe it was cause it was in an e46 m3 instead

The old Logic 7 had 13 speakers, so it's a little different - When I get the new car I'll let you know if it's comparable or worse (It better not be worse!)

Oh dang, didn't realize L7 had 13. I feel like such a chump with the "Hi-Fi" stereo...I feel like I need to hit up musiccarnw again and buy their 2k system.

I'm not exactly sure, but to answer the OP's question, I think Alpine made the professional hifi system in the e90. Below is a pic from one I ran across on eBay.

Harmon Kardon made the premium sound system (the step above the professional hi-fi). If I understand correctly Logic 7 is the DSP technology that Harmon used and in the early e90's (06-10) BMW marketed it as Logic 7 insted of Harmon Kardon. Same diff although I guess the technology in the newer units might sound better.
