Hey guys. My birthdays coming up on the 14th and I really want to make the car sound better. What are my options here? I'm looking to just replace the muffler and make it sound louder (but not too loud), but without a drone. Any affordable recommendations with the muffler? Thanks guys

Edit: I Might just go with a muffler delete. Does anyone have any feedback with drone on a 325i? Thanks

BMW PE is probably the only one you want to go with. I don't think magnaflow, rogue ikon, or any of the cheaper mufflers sound that good. You can always go with a muffler delete where you just need to buy tips and pay a shop to cut off your muffler but be prepared for some drone. Some can handle it some can't

Try the muffler delete. If you can't take the drone, then go for a Magnaflow exhaust, one that's not too loud.
Tell the mechanic you want to try these 2 options and ask him for a good overall price.
If you're young, like me, you'd like the muffler delete because it's aggressive. The PE would give you a more sophisticated classy sound but is expensive (it's actually what I have and I want a louder noise with the same sound...)

GJM, have you tried taking the cat off of the PE? For extra noise?

I don't have a problem with the drone but I just don't want it too loud to the point where it's uncomfortable to drive the car lol

Haven't yet... Not sure I should.
My PE is under major piping modification now because I'm getting it extended into duals as we speak. I have no idea what it's going to sound like. If it loses its beautiful sound, I'll prolly go with a cat delete.

try keeping the muffler and cut out your resonator and secondary cats., you will have to replace the rez with a y-pipe likely unless you run true-dual exhaust up to the muffler.

Typically, a muffler shop has high-heat tape they will use to temporarily give you a functional exhaust and move stuff around to get a feel for what you're looking for. Once, you're satisfied, they'll weld it closed. (ask your shop for details). This gives you a chance to pick and choose your option and what sound works best for you.
