Hankook V12 versus Pilot Super Sports
Are the Super Sports worth almost twice the price? 19" staggered, so no rotating. This is my DD and I put 120 hwy miles commuting roundtrip to work. There will be a little track/autoX time.
I know the Supersports are a better tire, but is it worth it when I'll be burning through the rubber this fast?

You'll find a lot of info between the two. The PSS's are very very good tires and are definitely worth the money. The Hankook's will be sticky enough to get you around town but you won't have as much traction as the PSS's.
Depending on your driving style, if you find yourself blowing through a lot of tires, just get the V12's. They're a good bang for the buck.

Gonna pull the trigger on the Hankooks. If I don't end up liking them, I'm sure I'll get to buy new ones in 12-18 months anyway.
Gracias.

The Hankook Ventus V12 is a great overall performance tire, have good traction, and will not break the bank. It's definitely worth the shot and you'll be able to use the money saved on other mods

The V12 Evo is a great street tire for someone after a good "bang for the buck" performance summer tire. It will not approach the level of grip and handling of the Pilot Super Sport, especially on the track.

i wouldnt go to the v12s if your mostly doing street driving because of the wear rate and personal unsatisfactory experience with them, but i recently got the bf goodrich comp2s, and while they are a little loud around town, they are fantastic. grip is very high, braking performance is right up there, and with 380whp+, they dont break traction as quickly as other tires have. my point is while you dont have to go comp2s, you can find other, fantastic tires for a reasonable price and with a reasonable tread wear in comparison to the pilot sports.

i dont go by "shop" recommendations, and i ran the S4s on my previous audi, they were not "spectacular" and i wouldnt consider them "pretty much summer only tires". that being said, for an all season they are very reasonable, and got me home a few times after i was caught out by unexpected snow storms. but again, summer tires, with summer tire levels of grip and feedback, they are not.

The Comp 2s don't have a 235/19. I thought about Direzzas and RS3s, but they don't have my sizes either. Continental DWs are backordered in 235/19, so that pulled those from the running. I already have dedicated 17s for winter, so no desire for psuedo all-seasons. Plus I have Advan Sports on the M and figure I'd test another route.
So it was literally between the V12s and PSSs. $$$$ won out. The V12s will end up being <$900 mounted/balanced/tax with road hazard warranty IF I blow one. Anything will be better than the RFTs ![]() Thanks for the responses. Hopefully this info will help others in the future.
