anything hotter than 6400K will disappear in the rain. the factory 4300K is the best of both worlds, where they are WHITE white, and will still light your way on wet roads, yet not blind you in the fog. Functionality and appearance are typically a trade-off, but the 4300K is still attractive, white, and functional. Even on my other cars that didn't come with HID bulbs I put 4300K in them.

I would say 6000k. I am going with 6700k D1S bulbs very soon to match my OSS rings.

6000k is bright white with a very slight hint of blue.

I would get the Osram/Sylvania CBI's. Rather than color-tinting the bulbs to achieve a higher color temperature (and as such, detracting from the overall light output) it uses a different blend of salts to achieve a 5000K color. As far as I know, this is the only bulb on the consumer market that utilizes this technology that (I imagine) is usually reserved for higher end HID applications (stadium lighting, street lighting, racing lighting, etc.). They're kind of pricy, but they're OEM-certified bulbs--Sylvania/OSRAM supplies bulbs for BMW and others.

well I got the mtec ones, just waiting for the 5100K and see how that works, if now then I'll check out the Philips 5000k I found those too, they are OEM so that should be a good quality ones.. Mtech -- ones I got are good quality as well and they were pretty pricy!

I know, the thing is that I previously had 6000K halogen and didn't realize how different that would look... after all I might just leave stock bulbs in..

same as you, deciding on 5000k or 6000k. i had 6000k on my old car and they had projectors (not designed for HID). The light output isnt as bright, but I got used to the blue and the 4300k look yellow to me now lol. I had 5000k in my old car before 6000k and they looked really nice, but not flashy like the 6000k blue. Waiting for more pics!

pics coming soon, they just shipped the 5100K yesterday and tomorrow I'm trading my car in and getting '09 E92 so I'll put them in that one (if I end up getting it) and then I'll put up some pix... 6000K look good, but on a rainy night it's a little hard to see..I was actually concidering just keeping stock color... If you want you can buy 5100K of me for what I paid for it.. I can save them for you and not use them.. Pair of brand new Mtec 5100K D1S...
