Upgrade navigation on 2009 E93 hard-drive model possible? - BMW 3-Series (E90 E92) Forum

I just purchased an 09 E93 with the hard drive style iDrive Nav.

I am having a hard time coming up with a solid answer, but I would like to know how/if I can update the maps on the 09 hard drive nav, and are there other iDrive upgrades I can do?

The version info I have found is: North America, 1.2.8, Road Map North America Premium 2009-1

that the dealer has to do the upgrades and it is around $300.00

Not true. You can do it yourself by either downloading or purchasing the 3-disc set (for less than $20) and getting the FSC code online (anywhere from $100-$200).

Which DVD set is this exactly? I'm having a hard-time pinpointing which DVDs will allow me to do this as there are quite a variety available online.

For example if I get this will it allow me to update the hard-drive based maps? If not, is there a specific part number I can order from Tischer?

I already am aware that I will need an FSC code on top of these maps. Thanks for reading and any help you guys can provide!

the dvd's won't work because the system is now hard drive based.
