Looks great! I need to improve my technique for detailing, I keep buffing out one spot, but the swirls never go away. How long do you stay in one area for?

they say 6-8 passes in one area. maybe you aren't putting enough weight into the buffer? they say 15-20Lbs...and maybe not the proper polish/pad?

Yeah the equipment was about $35 and I just used a compound and wax solution from Meguiar's. I keep trying to buff out the swirls, but they just stay. Maybe I'm not spending enough time in an area? I try to go over each spot for like 5-10 minutes straight, but still stays. Yeah, I might not being used the right pad, but it came with the buffer. I'm going to try again in a little bit to try to get rid of the wax

You're not using the correct products and machine.

Maybe, but when my friend detailed my car, he used the same products I was using and it looked like this

I'm guessing I just didn't apply the right pressure and pads, and could probably spend more time on it.

That picture doesn't show me the condition the paint is in.

I've worked at a detail shop before (Mirrorworks Detail and Metropolitan Detail) so I know some stuff about detailing.

You can't see it, but using $30 worth of Meguiar products got rid of all the swirls and marks on my car using the same orbiter from O'Reiley's for $35.

i think if you are using a 35$ orbital polisher from o'reileys that wont get it done. you need to buy a porter cable random orbital, griots garage orbital or flex....100$+ and it will come right out no issue

i use a flex DA and with the correct cutting, finishing pads along with the correct cutting compunds and finishing compounds it will go away, but along with the right equipment you need to have the right technique.

Yeah maybe, I don't know I just think it's my technique. My friend told me he used the same orbital from O'Reiley's and it turned out great using the same wax and compound I used. When I looked at the paint up close, it looked like the paint was shiny and wet without any swirl marks or scratches. It seriously looked like my paint was in flawless condition. I'm sure the higher end products would get it done quicker and better though.

only way to really tell is to take a halogen light or really bright LED light up to its finish in a dark garage or room, you'll be able to see everything then.

Or the products you're using have a lot of fillers in it. Most OTC use fillers to give the effect of having no swirls

The secret is to use good quality products. Check out my thread on this board for the products I used. Nanoskin is an amazing tool if u hate manual claying.
