Read everything that Brian has posted in the aero thread. Wings add alot of downforce, but a lot of drag as well. You can get a better balanced car with the aero package than just adding the wing. Brian has all the technical details as to why a wing is not the answer to going faster. That being said, in order to get the proper airflow, you have to run a huge front splitter and side skirts to keep air from entering under the car. I don't think you'd be able to drive on the streets with it very long without smashing it. Also, if you don't run a huge front splitter with the wing, you'll unbalance the car and put a ton of downforce on the rear only so you'll be understeering everywhere. I saw an ex-world challenge built e90 running a big wing without a front splitter. I ran past him very quickly. The next session he took off the wing and blew by me!

LOL! Brakes would be transferred to the race car if need be.
We bought a wrecked 2007 Z4 3.0si coupe yesterday via an online auction! It has front end damage so I'm now trying to source used parts to save money. It only has 48K miles on it, so we'll see about what engine we use. We may switch to an M3 engine. It's coming from California, so I won't see it for a week or so. Don't know much else about it yet. Stay tuned for the full build.

If you blow through the chicane and go through the cones you get 1 sec back! They will blackflag you eventually :-)
Seriously though, that should be on par with a 1:20 pace at Lightning. Personally I find the chicane annoying because it's right after a turn and before a short straight, it's purpose is not to avoid crazy speeds down a long straight but I digress... have fun!

TSM330- a Z4 with an M3 motor sounds serious! s65 or s54?
BTW, I am still trying to figure out if I want to go back to 3.64 or 3.38- with the 3.38s do you hit 5th gear at the Glen at all or are you able to keep it in 4th on straits? I have been playing around with a gear ratio calculator and am trying to figure out what will be the best compromise for a car that sees 20,000 miles a year and a hald dozen auto crosses and hopefully 4 track weekends.

I believe a high 1:3x to 1:40 is good. But with that said while I pulled a 1:20 at Lightning, my best time at Thunder was 1:47 lol, but that was my first day there and haven't been back since. I'm hoping to get down to 1:40 flat =)

You solo this time? Last time was kinda annoying, trying to get a clean lap with you. Well, I heard next weekend with PCA Del is completely booked. Let's just hope that it's not gonna be a train station.

I'm the opposite, I have a boat load of time on Lightning and just two days on Thunderbolt.
