OFFICIAL Canada Group-buy for Dashboard Cameras

THIS GROUP BUY HAS ENDED.

Message from Blackboxmycar.com:

Dear E90post members,

We are happy to announce that all planned units for the group-buy has been sold. It's been a pleasure serving the E90post community and we are very grateful to have received the kindness and generosity.

Please feel free to contact me via email or PM if you have any questions or concerns regarding FineVu and Blackvue products.

Sincerely,
Alex@Blackboxmycar.com

For those who missed the e90post group buy, there's a new group buy on gencoupe forum. Visit blackboxmycar.com for more information or email directly at blackboxmycar@gmail.com.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Would anyone be interested in doing a group buy for dashboard cameras? (Finevu CR-200HD, Finevu CR-300HD, Blackvue DR400G)

There's a new vendor called blackboxmycar and he's located in Vancouver: http://www.e90post.com/forums/member.php?u=161538

Since he's in Canada, we wouldn't have to pay tax + freight and maybe even free install for Vancouver people.

If you're interested, please put your name down and I will show him this thread to get some large discount for us.

Please be aware that this group buy will run until following products are sold.

Blackvue 0/60 SOLD OUT
Finevu CR200HD 0/20 SOLD OUT

Things to Note

1. eBay dealers claim they have warranty but actually DO NOT. Finevu and Blackvue prohibit Korean versions to be exported. Blackboxmycar is an authorized distributor so guarantees that there is manufacturer warranty if anything goes wrong.

2. eBay dashboard cameras are in Korean! This means the software and manual are not in English. Blackboxmycar offers their cameras with English software and English manual. Blackvue and Finevu manuals are in English. (Blackvue and Finevu manuals may be in English but that is not from the manufacturer; the eBay dealers translated the Korean manual to English themselves.) Blackvue manuals can be found inside the SD card folder called "doc."

How to hardwire blackbox for BMWs. For most newer BMWs, BMW designed it so that no fuse stays on for more than 1hr after car is turned off. Therefore, some people have experienced that their blackbox does not stay on for more than 30-1hr (parking mode; when car is turned off).

Blackboxmycar.com asked Moto Park in Korea who installs for over 3000 cars/yr and known as one of the most trusted blackbox installer in Korea. He suggested for BMWs, power kit must be installed directly at the battery.

- Might see "AWD (x-drive) / DSC Malfunction" light and "Hill Assist Disabled" light, it is completely normal. This light comes up when the battery gets disconnected. All you need to do is "Turn steering all the way to left and then turn steering all the way to right"

- We tested it for over 1 week and we have not experienced any malfunction with the power kit.

He currently has the Blackvue for 280. If the group buy price is better than that Ill be interested. I would also be interested in the power unit for the camera.

Talked to Blackboxmycar yesterday and he agreed to giving good prices if we gather at least 10 buyers.
First post updated with details! I know it's long but please read it carefully. I really want this group-buy to happen.

definitely cheaper PM blackboxmycar to send your deposit and list your name down.

EDIT: tell your friends and family about this. doesn't have to be from e90post. I will post on m3post and 1addicts to get more attention. If we get 20+ people it's really good deal for us..

I think it is, but I dont feel at ease about purchasing one without a warranty. Or possibly getting a fake (reproduction)

To secure yourself in the event of insurance fraud. Also to catch people in case of a hit and run.

Also if you have an accident, there is no "he said, she said" there is just video evidence.

This.

Blackboxmycar's response:

This video was not recorded by Finevu/Blackvue.

For this accident, although there were many cars at the scene, no one came up to say they witnessed the accident. With this video, ICBC (BC's insurance company) was able to settle the claim quickly.

This is ICBC's response:

Mf p480405 1

Hello Alex,

Thank you very much for sending me the video. It along with the driver statements is sufficient for our purposes. I very much appreciate your assistance in this regard. The video was very useful in allowing us to make a fair liability assessment. I wish more drivers had this equipment; I plan to do some more inquiries about these cameras. I find it very interesting and I agree it would make sense for insurance companies to offer a discount to drives with such camera.

Thanks again,

This. Also, it's actually cheaper if you consider that brokerage fee and custom duties are all waived. Just look at the prices for 20+ people!

Updated!

Just personal recommendation, you should look into the CR200HD/CR300HD.. their mic is a lot better IMO. But then again, Finevus do not show the speed at which a vehicle is travelling so that's a minus there.

I may order two. My friend is lazy and doesn't want to register. but I have a few questions.

Why do we need a good mic?
Which one has a physical mute button?
None the three has LCD, how do we know the camera is in the right position?

Thanks,

- You don't really "need" a good mic. I only said that because I'd like to hear the engine note when recording track driving or autox.

Which one has a physical mute button?
- CR300HD

All of the three don't have LCD, how do we know the camera is in the right position?
- Finevus can adjust up, down, left, and right so just set it at an approximate place and then adjust after connecting to computer and seeing the video. For DR400G, you can only adjust up and down so set it at a place temporarily and then adjust accordingly after connecting to computer and seeing the position. If you have an Android, you can connect the camera and see through the phone screen for DR400G.

Thanks,

Thanks, I will check those two out tonight. I am almost certain the mic will be muted most of the time, but Ill compare the other features as well.
