Modding 06 325i using bmw made parts?

anyone know of anything related to modding a 325i using 330 engine parts or maybe even 335 engine parts?

i was thinking if u change the single intake into the triple on the 330 and change the exhaust to the 330 exhust, the engine setup will be the same meaning same hp and torque.

You dont have the ECU software to control the Intake, and it cannot be retrofitted.

The exhaust is 99% the same between the 2. Its just the tips with the sound valve thats different.

I bet the Valvetronic software is different between the 2 aswell

both softwares for the ecu and valetronic can easily come out to 2000 dollars themselves. this i know because it was done to an older m3 in my neighborhood not too long along. and thats if its even possible to do it.

along with the other upgrades u're looking at more than the difference msrps for both cars. and u still get less than u get with a base 330i.

its cheaper, more reliable, and clearly more obvious to just get the 330i.

My $.02 worth - first find out the cost of the OEM three stage intake and ECU for a 330i. Because the car is so new, you may not be able to find these parts at a discount seller that sales BMW OEM Parts. Actually if you can find some type of Service Manual for the 325i and 330i that would be the ticket. You can then look at the part numbers to see what parts are different on th 325i and 330i. From what I've been told the internals of the 3.0L motor for the 325i ad 330i are the exact same which is good for you. I would bet if you got the three stage intake and ECU you would have the 330i power. But that's just my $.02 worth and I would be curious to hear of the price...more than anything to figure out if the amount I paid for a 330i is justified.
Good luck and keep us posted!

Having the 3 stage induction intake allows the 330i to produce power smoothly from low rpm. 325i's intake is a compromise that maintains a usable low and mid range at the cost of peak power. Eventually tuners will come up with products to enhance the 325i, but without the multi-stage induction, these products will boost the top end while sacrificing low and mid range power, so the car will be less 'drivable' on a day to day basis.

The 3.0 ltr motors in the 325i and the 330i are identical in terms of compression and bore & stroke; the only difference in exhaust is the chrome tips that come on the 330i which have absolutly nothing to do with the HP. From my understanding; the 3-stage intake manifold, the ECU, and possibly the fuel injectors may be different the 330i which the extra power. Im looking for the similar solution in upgrading my 325i just to keep things OEM. This info is coming from a previous 92 civic owner w/ a fully built LS/Vtec turbo motor that made 489hp. To much modification on a perfectly engineered vehicle like the E90 series can compromise its overall mechanics. I only wish I had endlees amounts of cash to have an extra E90 chassis to drop a 5-series M or 6-series M motor to reaaly have some fun!! :rocks:
