looks good and a keen price but at the end of the day its had a whack. do you know what the damage was and was it repaired by bmw if so should have a cert with it. looks like the seats are out of another car M3? most of the spec on it is standard on that car. id def find out what the cat d was for and then decide.

The real big issue is resale of the car when you are finished with it. Cat D will scare a lot of buyers away and traders will hit really low with their offers.

Yes its cheap for its age but I would aim for an older car for the same cash that hasn't any history.

yeah thats the only think put me off, the cat d,

how can u tell if it has m3 seats, and will defo find out about what happened

how much would u pay for that if, u were in my shoes

I think looking at them back ones the pattern look different to my one

It will effect the resale value a lot, though it is cheap

I guess the main question is how long you plan to keep the car, if it's only 1-2 years resale value is important, if it's 4-6 years then it's not so important.

i might be wrong but are you 100% its a 59 car? just saying as mine is a dec 08 build on a 58 plate and has the CIC idrive, this one looks to have CCC which is the older system?

would expect it to be CIC on a 59 plate unless it had been sat on the docks or unregistered in a dealers for a hell of a long time.

i may be wrong tho...

Aye M3 seats will have been part of a 'bits and pieces from scrapyards' type approach to fixing the car after what was probably theft, flood or fire damage.

You can tell the M3 seats from the textured line in the middle of the pullout. Other seats don't have that.

Also has the 'old' style auto knob. I'd stay the fuck away from this shitheap.

19500 for cat d he is dreaming, nothing wrong with a cat d if it's repaired by a reputable bodyshop with receipts to prove and a price reduction , worth a check with vosa it may require a vic check depending on circumstances , end of the day plenty of damaged cars out there not all registered on the cat database , hpi clear does not mean its been damage free , I doubt a genuine bodyshop had done the work due to different trim fitted,

I was looking for a hi spec 335d recently and came across this, lovely looking car, I think I jumped out of my seat a bit when i saw the price but then quickly sat back down when i saw it was Cat d, i also found the CCC knob pretty suspicious.

If you think there's any chance you'd want to sell this on again then you need to be prepared to lose a lot of money, the hassle and stigma of enquiring into a cat d car is too much for most people and even those for who the spec & styling ticked all the right boxes (like me) are going to forget about it should another good option come along. Also i see no benefit to the 59 over an older plate if it doesn't have CIC or a clean service history, get an older car.

Think if it was up for sale from a complete stranger and not your mate would you still be considering it? because thats the situation you're getting yourself into come time to sell.

Yes. it has the very old style idrive control with no short cut buttons.I'm pretty sure it should have the later heater control panel for that year. Looks like a Heinz to me.

Saw this ages ago on Ebay when I was looking - its wasnt orginally advertised as Cat D, as I thought it was cheap ! Also was being sold by some dodgy looking dealer in Wembley !??!

Avoid like the plague IMO

There was a small window between cic being installed and the lci facelift, if you wait and shop around you can have both. I have a new shape e92 but TBH an old shape would have been much easier for me to mod in the ways I have planned, also except for the lci headlights, which I do like, I think the old shape was a bit meaner looking at the front. Good luck with your search.

CIC is the newer version with hard drive, better screen, better controller etc. Its miles better than the previous version was.

Its hard to be exact on dates unless you know the actual build date.

The very earliest CIC were 58 plate but most 58 plates seem to have the older CCC. 09 plates are a mixture, with the majority being CIC but not all.

All 59 plates should have CIC but there may have been a few old stock examples.
