A deposit will be a great way to ensure you get the next unit. The demand is much higher than the supply at this time.

Your PM is full, so I was unable to answer your question regarding what a LSD is.

It may help to do a search here or on the web regarding what a Quaife or LSD is.

Harold

The Quaife is the LSD or the differential unit only. No bearings, seals, diff cover, ring or pinion grear or the diff housing that houses the LSD unit.

So what does that mean? I have to spend another $1k for the rest of those parts before I can put it in my car?

No, all you need is the Quaife unit and a reputable shop for the install.

I would emphasize "reputable" -- this is not a job that BMW service depts will normally undertake, because it is very difficult to get the bearings or shims should the originals be damaged during the install. Fwiw, I have been waiting for the time to drive all the way to Cleveland OH (from Missouri) to Koala to get mine installed.

That is the complete rear end solution for the welded and none welded diff or for those looking to save their oem for re-install if they sell their cars later down the road. If you decide to keep the core, there will be a core charge.

few questions

1) For cars with non-welded diffs, if I just buy the Quaife LSD, is it possible to install it and then revert back to stock diff in the future?

2) What's the cost of install in your shop (assuming non-welded diff)?

Thanks!
