328i drivers! i need an opinion!
so im repainting my car and i was wondering if you guys think i should just get the single outlet mtech rear for my 328i while im getting my car painted, or just get the oem repainted and wait because i want to get a custom quad exhaust set up!
any insight?? what would you guys do?? buy mtech rear and just keep single outlet exhaust or wait for the quad exhaust?? |

I'm a 335xi owner so take this however you will, but imo, get the m-tech rear and keep the stock exhaust (maybe look into some new tips, aka cyba or dimisa) and get the quad exhaust and a diffuser later on. Just my 2 cents.

well i wanted to get the 335i bumper because the placement of the exhausts is how i want them to be. On the 328i bumper im going to have to alter the opposite side of the bumper to fit the other exhaust tips but they are too far apart, which i dont really like the look of it.=/ but thats just my opinion!

bumpers are identical. get the mtech now. you can get a quad diffuser later when you get your exhaust done.

OP, you can change the exhaust outlet position from a 328 single diffuser to 328 or even 335-style (more centered in the bumper) with a new diffuser and an exhaust shop. Just get the M-tech now

but yes, whether you have a e92 or e90, if you have the mtech bumper, you can change the diffuser piece later. e92 bumpers are the same with each other, and e90 bumpers are the same with each other. just dont try to mix n match e92 and e90.

Obviously, you should do this now so that you don't end up paying to paint two bumpers (stock AND m-tech in the future). To restate what everyone else has already said: - The m-tech rear bumper for both the 328i and 335i are identical, except for the diffuser. - You can buy the 328i m-tech rear bumper now, and keep the stock 328i exhaust and stock 328i diffuser until you are ready to change the look. - When you are ready, you can simply purchase a new diffuser made for 335i m-tech rear bumpers, and replace your 328i diffuser with it. - In addition to changing the diffuser, you will need a custom exhaust setup if you want something that looks like a 335i. I did this exact same thing years ago. I bought a 328i rear m-tech bumper and later replaced the diffuser with a carbon fiber one made for a 335i. Then I bought some quad tips, got custom piping done, and now my rear end looks like this.

I personally think the best route (and from what I've seen, most popular) is to purchase your own tips, a magnaflow muffler or something like that (search for the models people have used) and get a good shop to do the custom work for you. I purchased my tips from "cyba", a vendor on here. You can search for his threads and check out his selection. If you can stand the drone and don't need the muffler, then you just need to buy the tips and get straight piping done.
