Swissol

I tell you what ..... I've been in two minds over buying a high quality car wax but I must admit that after waxing the car with Swissol on the week end, I'm going to get me some. My nephew purchased it to do his Porsche and that came up great as well.

After washing the car, I used the Swissol paint cleaner and I was surprised at how dirty the cloth was after that. The wax was really easy to apply. Left it on for about 2 hours and then wiped it off efortless.

The result is fantastic. I took photo's but due to my lack of photographic skills, they don't really do it justice. It was late in the afternoon and overcast.

Paint cleaner costs about $79 and the wax at $179 but it looks like it will last for years so it might end up being more ecconomical in the long run as well.

I'm using the P21 wax and its also good. Because it is "wax" it will only last 2-3 months in the Aussie sun before it needs to be reapplied. This is the case with most waxes. I'm tempted to try the Zymol products frequently mentioned in the forums. These are chemical sealers rather than a wax and may last longer between application. I think the theory that you get what you pay for probably applies to detailing products.

I've also heard good things about Zanino products but I'm going to purchase the Swissol stuff now. I was researching for the distributor today and I've just found out that he is in the same suburb as me. I'm going to see if he will sell direct.

Can you applu it by hand and buff off by hand??
Or do you need an orbital lambs wheel buffer.

I have a 2 month old 320d do you recommend me applying

Hi Scotty .... It's applied by hand and buffs by hand and it's not hard work. It doesn't turn into a white chalk. I left it on for 2 hours before I wiped it off.

The finish is glass like. I thought that the Meguires NXT was great before trying this stuff but it's actually easier to buff off and stated to last longer.

I don't see any reason why you couldn't apply it to a 2 month old car. In fact, I'd say it would be highly recomended as it's a protective layer.

Do a search on Google cause there is a lot of great reviews on the stuff.

I was looking at Waxit.com.au. They sell all these brands. I bought the P21 there and service was great. The Zaino has fillers which is great on black as it hides all those little scratches that seem to magically appear. I'm therefore thinking the best approach would be clay bar, Zaino Z5, Z2, P21?

I've used the clay bar process before and I'm not sure it's worth the effort. The Swissol paint cleaner was real easy. One panel at a time and just apply it wit a sponge pad and wipe off. The panel becomes "sweaky" clean. Serious ... the manual states you know it's clean when it sweaks as you wipe.

I've used Ziano before and that stuff is really good. It's a wax you can layer so te more times you apply it the deeper the shine. I saw a silver car done once with 10 layers and it was truely amasing.

I think the real benefit of using a good quality wax apart from the looks and protection factor is the extended time between having to re-apply it.

Just something else I've noticed, after 4 days my car is relitively dust free. Swissol appears to repell dust better. My car is generally full of dust by now especially that yesterday I was stopped at a set of lights and all I could see was dirt blowing around. Sorry .... cant give a technical or scientific reason for it but can only hope this continues.
