idle engine noise please help!

hi guys, iv'e had a problem that's been racking my head for the last few days...
I have a 2006 e90 325i saloon and on idle it sounds like the engine is getting louder and louder in terms of roughness..
when i bought the car it ran smooth on idle and sounded new but 3 months down the line now it's starting to sound rough.
Iv;e thought about many things and googled alot but really haven't got an answer.
it almost sounds like you can hear the engine going round as if the bearings wern't lubricated properly if ya get what i mean..
The only thing i can think of is that I topped up a litre of oil a few weeks back, I used carlube triple R 5/30 which euro car parts recommended..
would this be enough to make the roughness? would I now need to get a full oil change?
any help is most appreciated, thanks!

Garage List
Can't help you on the physical problem though have you considered that your becoming more sensitive to it. What did you drive before. After my Subaru I always thought the 335i was very smooth on idle but now I'm used to it the direct injection now sounds like machine gun fire.

As for the oil I would always recommend topping up with the same oil or if that's unknown to do a full change. Additives from one brand can react badly with additives from another. Can't say I have experience with this as far as the automotive side goes but working with hydraulic systems I learned that lesson the hard way so may be the same as far as engine oil goes.

Good luck anyway, hope it's something simple.

Is your oil level appropriate?
Why you had to top up?
Mileages of your car?
Can it be engine chain?
Carlube isn't great for beamers.
I will start with full engine oil change and use recommended oil to start with.
