Hello Fellas,

I just purchased a 2008 328i and I wanted to convert it to dual exhaust, much like the 335i. I hope you can answer a few questions I have.

(1) What undercarriage problems would I run into mounting it?
(2) Which brand sounds the best?
(3) Is there any mechanical problems that might occur due to the conversion?

Lets point out the most obvious. 328s come out left side for exhaust, so new back bumper? If you cut a hole for the other side...well it'll look goofy, and youd have to run quad (2 each side) just to make the holes match, so best to go with new back bumper, and im sure that since the diagram of a 328 exhaust looks like it doesnt have any room to make the final part of exhaust flow to right side...so dunno. I do know magnaflow makes exhaust for our car, just not dual.

im actually doin this myself.. i got a rear apron with dual cutouts an im plannin to run the quads.. when i looked around down there for the first time it begs to be dualed out.. its dual all the way to the resanator so im doin a resanator and cat delete then runnin the duals bak to y pipes that give the quad look with no mufflers..

I did mine last year and first you need a full mtech rear bumper and diffuser or a stock 335 bumper which is how i went so the install was simple. The biggest pain was the charcoal cannister on the passenger side that was too hard to move/relocate so the tech had to do some creative welding You can then either buy a new exhaust (my choice) or use your stock one and run pipe from each tailpipe to each hole and weld on a nice fat tip.

These are definitely good information. Thanks! I'm planning to do this myself, so if you have any pictures of your undercarriage showing the routing of the exhaust piping, it would be very helpful.

does any one know if theres any loss in converting it? I'm thinking of just running a pipe to the other hole..will there be a difference if done with dual exhausts?
