Pro Nav failure

Guys, some advice please...

My DVD based sat nav proffesional (wide screen jobbie fitted to a 2006 330d e90) has packed up. The slot for CD works fine, but the DVD drive started to make a clicking noise a week ago and now it just states 'insert dvd' even when the nav disk is in. Needless to say Ive lost all nav function.

Can I get the drive repaired, or is it cheaper to source a new (second hand) one? If I go for a second hand one, will this have to be coded to my car or is it a direct replacement?

Does the drive unit below the climate control come out easily also?

Ta,

Mart

There was a thread on here with detailed photos of a user who replaced the faulty DVD drive. Have a search.

Found it. Looks like quite a simple job with no coding needed. Just need to souce a dvd unit now. I thought it was the whole thing that needed replacing, but thankfully with all the covers off the dvd drive itself comes out.

Thanks again,
Mart

The DVD unit is a generic drive used in latops and so on. If you pull the one out of your car and google the OEM part number I'd bet you'd get one for about a score.

I have a complete drive in the housing out of a very low milage E90.

This will go straight in. Dealers are asking 105 for them now, and will give you a 15 rebate when you take your old one back in. I guess they put new lasers in the old housings.

50 if you want it?

A complete CCC?

No, just the drives, CD and DVD (nav bit).
