Finally got my first BMW

Hi everyone!

I joined here some time ago and after many hurdles and 3 cars later, I finally own my first BMW!

Thanks to everyone for their help and assistance in my journey (oh and special thanks to all the insurance companies that made my life hell in the process )

So the car!

2009 BMW 320D M Sport Saloon
Automatic
Black with Black Leather
Heated/Electric Memory Seats
Visibility Pack
Professional Media Pack
PDC Front and Rear
Dimming Mirror and Folding Mirrors
Privacy Glass
18" Alloys

Very happy with it, it was very difficult to find a 320D with a decent spec but my patience paid off

Thanks It is an E90!
I went through an E92 phase when I realised they are cheaper to insure and had Xenons as standard but ended up getting the E90 as this was the shape I preferred!

They do actually look nice, I also like the tourer's with a nice set of wheels and some tastefull mods!

My bro in-law has a 318 sport plus in white, it may not be a quick car but it looks spot on

Enjoy!

Thanks everyone. It was beading extremely well last night. I still haven't had a chance to give it my own wax treatment yet though

I just couldn't live without having the Xenons (sad as it sounds)! I recently went to over to Europe and every 3 series there seemed to have them, even all the 1 series seemed to have them. The Xenons and Pro iDrive are definitely must haves IMO, really finish it for me

Its a shame BMW want to rip me off just to update the Nav to the latest version

Have a search. There are ways around that.

I have been looking around.

I have found a couple of ways to get the code (gpsunderground.com plus some other sites)

I can get the DVDs no problem.

But what confuses me is that BMW said the car needs coding to update the Nav on top of the above two steps?

I'm a bit paranoid about messing about until I really am 100%

No it doesn't need coding - you just need the 2102 European PREMIUM maps and the fsc code. Did mine last month, easy peasy.

Thanks, I just activated the BMWConnect services so I think I will hold off for now because I can just get them to program the Nav, will get it done in the future though

I read on the Canada section that the BMW dealers there have reduced the upgrade from around $600 to under $200 all in.

Haha!

So far I have planned the following short term mod:

- Model deletion (still not brave enough to do it)

Mid-term mod:

- Alpine Retrofit (definitely not brave enough yet!)

Also need to give my bank balance a chance to recover

How do you mean? BMWConnect can't do an upgrade over the air - it's nearly 18Gb of data!

I just thought I can ring them with a postcode and they can program the nav?
