Any fuel mileage tuning done?

Either Procede, JB4 or Cobb tuning done to increase fuel mileage? I know this is backward thinking but for the times that we are on long road trips and just cruising it would be a nice option. Basics of changing throttle sensitivity, lower boost levels or at least sensitivity, timing if that's not already at a optimal setting and change the AFR's to a slightly leaner mix if that's another option in a DI engine since most cars run richer than need be for emissions. I know the diesel tuners and some of the others have settings for these. It just frustrates me watching the instant gas mileage gauge and a slight twitch of the toe will send the gauge down from 29 to 21 and no noticeable change in speed.

Just run valet map with a higher rpm
Cutoff ? From my understanding with valet map the turbo doesnt boost.

That's one option but I was more interesting in full on tuning and taking advantage of the tuner abilities not just a lowered boost.

I get decent mileage with procede, but the driver mod is the best mod for fuel economy

JB4 has an economy map. Map 8. I don't know what it does exactly, but I would imagine it opens the wastegates so that you aren't boosting (and maybe other things) and it puts the car in a "reduced power mode". I haven't run it much yet (just a short drive to see what it was like) but I'm leaving on a long road trip next tuesday and will be using it on the highway. I'll gladly post my experiences here.

2008 BMW 335i  [3.75]
IIRC Map 8 basically bypasses the turbos, turning the N54 into an N52.

You can get phenomenal gas mileage with a tune cranked all the way up, it's called cruise control. I've gotten ~32 mpg cruising at 80 mph & my average is ~24 mpg over 35k. Just gotta have a little self control

The Procede also has a lean cruise mode which I believe is enabled in all maps based on driving conditions. Maybe Shiv or Robert can chime in here. Also map 3 with no boost.

JB4 economy map turns off turbos. Someone did some testing and they saw a 4-5mpg increase over the course of a trip.

Yeah cruise control really helps but with all the idiots on the highway that hit the brakes for no reason I'm not able to use it much. I'm not sure how I feel about a reduced power mode. I feel that any of these should be overridden to a point if you floor it for safety reasons. I never driven in reduced power mode so maybe it's not that bad but I would think changing the pedal inputs to say where anything uner 75-80% kept the wastegates open, maxed out timing, change pedal input from linear to where 50% is really only like 25% and depending on what the engine will allow change cruising AFR's to as lean as the engine can tolerate, and for cobb change the vanos to something optimal.

Only way to be fuel efficient is to exhibit self control. The turbos them selves by definition are fuel efficient on the hwy by inertia its building boost which requires more fuel that makes them the opposite. So get to speed and barely press the gas. Lol

That's part of it but as I stated in my findings that a twitch and I serious mean no noticeable difference in acceleration on flat road cause the gauge to read from high 20's to low 20's. I gradually decreased just a bit and it went back up. And many other cars and tunes on other cars you can trick/adjust the cruising AFR's to get another MPG or two.

You can only go so lean before the engine exhibits lean surge or lean misfires. The best way to increase fuel economy is reduction in power required to move the vehicle through the air and over the pavement. Tires are available with low rolling resistance ratings. Narrower is better, pressures in the 38psi range. I would caution against tuning leaner for better fuel economy, optimize in other areas. Or if you want speed and economy, get a 335d.

The N54 was developed to be able to utilize a stratified charge/ultra-lean low load cruising which would increase MPG's. It was disabled in North American markets because the lean burn increases NOx outputs. Someone could tweak a map using ATR if they had the proper knowledge.

That's what I'm talking about. I am most people on here are all about performance but we should be able to easily have to best of both worlds. And as I said before we can go quite a bit leaner without problems. In the 90's manufacturers started to richen the cruising mixtures to decrease emissions. Maybe somebody can play around with ATR to see what kind of gains they get.

Yesterday I filled my tank and reset the mpg meter as I pulled onto the fourlane.
I ran between 75 and 80 for about 40 miles, climbing 1500 ft. the first 20 then dropping 500 ft. to my destination. I did things like waiting to pass until I reached a downhill section and was conservative with the throttle. Mpg read 36.2, this using the latest version of the Vishnu map 1 in an '07 E92mt6.
My usual mileage from home to wherever and back is pretty steady at 28.5 mpg in the summer months, but my driving and passing is more aggressive. That's about 2 to 3 miles better than I got before installing the piggyback.

?, On a JB4 i've found that I get better MPGs on Map5 with the turbo engaged vs on Map 8 (Economy) for some reason. Somewhere around 31-32mpg. I'm Manual.
