Akrapovic evo SS installed 335i

Incase anyone wanted to see what it looks like, I have an Akrapvoic Evo SS exhaust system on my N55. I will do a few sound clips soon. I wanted something quiet that doesn't drone on the highway. I will be adding an AR downpipe and tune once the cobb unit comes out for our N55's. It could use alittle more sound to it so I know the dp will wake it up.

Here is a pic.

Hi there,

How do you like it? Is the Akrapovic exhaust really increase the horse/torque power and light weight (compare to OEM) as advertise? I'm thinking to get for my N55 coupe, please advice.

I'm a new comer!
Thanks

Still waiting on this or did you cave in for one of the available options? The Akra is still a gorgeous piece & I'm in love with their DPs (on my car now )

Last I heard it may be another 6 months but dont shoot the messenger (in regards to Cobb for N55). I've been modding cars for the better part of the decade, if there is anything i can tell you guys, dont wait for mods, have fun with your cars. Get something that is out now, and if you need to sell it in 6 months, the tunes hold their value pretty good and you will definitely get your money worth.

On one of my older cars I was promised many parts, with expected time frames, only to be disappointed and waiting longer. Truth be told I still know people that do this today, and sometimes wait 4 or more years! I go through cars like water, and keep them 2-3 years, I would never want to wait for a mod again especially if there is something comparable out now.

Akra is always a nice piece but their prices are usually just a little too much for most folks.

Beautiful car! Congrats, I was looking at this exhaust system earlier today... Upload a video when you get a chance.
I think it saves about 20kg compared to the stock exhaust system... That's a lot of weight gone.

I agree with Jeff. There are always new and improved components and tunes coming out in the aftermarket. One after the next, often times with only minor improvements to performance. Better to get what is current now and enjoy your car. Then when something truly superior comes out, upgrade.

Vince @ SSC

Like the setup on your car, so clean. Simple is better sometimes and your car is a perfect example of that!

Biohazard29 I'd love to hear a sound clip of it in cabin (both cruising and WOT) as I'm looking at this exact exhaust as well.

Previously I had an 07 335i Coupe with a full Milltek exhaust, and I did not like it. I had to change it back to the OEM pretty much within a week. I thought there was a lot of droning while normal highway driving.

Now I have an 11 335i M Coupe, I've already done the golf tee mod and it's great. But looking for something with a deeper sound.

I think you are mixing up the titanium and stainless systems. The titanium saves 44lb (20kg) over stock but at a $5000+ price point

I don't know the figures but I imagine that a stainless system would save about half that amount, around 20lbs.

At any rate, nice looking piece. I suppose it should be for the money spent, right?

I love my Vanguard w/AR dp... .it's a bit loud but the tone is amazing... exotic and muscle-y at the same time.

With a 25-30% E85 mix, it snorts and pops on up shifts and throttle lifts... very cool. It's really wild how different it sounds than running straight 93.

Cold start is almost too loud but once it's warmed up, it's not bad at all. The dp probably doubled the decibels of just the vanguard alone.

More noise is one thing, but I don't want to have huge amounts of drone... I use the bluetooth phone a lot, so I don't want the in cabin sound to affect the use.

I will try to get a video, I have put at least 5k miles on the exhaust so far. Here is my take on it.

Fitment: Great, tips were a bit off centered but nothing a slght bend can't fix.

Interior sound: Not much really, the exhaust is really quiet and cannot here much of it with the windows up. there is zero drone inside or on the highway.

Exterior sound: A slight deeper tone, but once again this exhaust is very quite just a tad louder than stock.

Weight: I would say that it is at least 30lbs lighter

My father has the akrapovic titanium full evo exhaust on his M3 and the V8 makes it sound like a monster. The N55 just sounds like a dust buster. I am waiting for Cobb on the tuning before I add the AR downpipe. This exhaust desperatley needs a down pipe if you are looking for something with some noise. If you are just looking for a slght power bump they claim 12hp/15tq and a nice quiet daily driver, this exhaust is great!

P.S. I personally love the exhaust, I did not want something too loud. This is my daily driver and I already have a S2000 CR with a test pipe and Toda dual exhaust system that's loud enough to get me in trouble

Shit I didn't realise this thread was that old until I saw the date. I'm glad you're still around to reply!

I'm really interested to hear what it sounds like with the window closed while taking a casual drive on normal roads and highway. There are a few videos on YouTube already with people showing the sound from the outside, none from inside .

I'd rather be very sure before I drop money on an expensive exhaust.

Thanks for your thoughts!

Inside video is alot easier for me to do. I will try to get it done tonight or tomorrow whiel driving back and forth to work. I am trying to prep my CR for the track event this weekend so I am kind of busy after work.

This is the quietest exhaust you can get in regards to drone or interior noise.
