Dc to Fl

Now that we have enough preliminary mods done on the 335 ( see pics in profile), we are thinki of taking a 95 roadtrip south to FL, anyone done this? know of any must see stops? (besides south of the border).

I drove down there last year for Thanksgiving and I'll be doing it again on Tuesday of next week. I don't think there's really much to see.

Also, I don't mean to rain on your parade but I believe South of the Border is dead. I remember stopping there a while back and almost everything was closed down. I wouldn't be surprised if everything was closed down now.

Not much to see or do on the way down. I've driven to FL multiple times, once with the 335. The only fun part for me was blowing past slow trucks and left-lane hoarders.

Ive done it before and if you stick to I95 there is nothing to see (as stated above). I'm sure if you take some time to look at maps you could find some cool roads off 95 that would give you more scenery and some cool places to stop.

I have done multiple trips down to Miami. Took my old 335i down to Miami then Key West. Here are my recommendations, nothing in VA but cops, so keep the speed limit. In NC, google the Carolina BBQ Trail, it highlights some of the best BBQ places in NC to get true NC style BBQ. There was one that was about 15 minutes detour from 95.

I always stop by Savannah if I get the chance, it is about 30 minutes or so detour off of 95. Deep fried food is so unhealthy but soo delicious. I always go to their historic old city by the harbor. I have always used Savannah as a mid point break.

GA, fairly short, pick up some peaches and such. If you haven't heard of Cajun Boiled peanuts, try some. There is an exit in FL, one of the gas station sells the best Cajun boiled peanuts I ever had. It is one of the north FL exit near Jacksonville. There might be signs, I highly recommend trying the boiled peanuts if you never had it before.

Thanks for the info guys, need to get a valentine for those peaky state troopers, but thag is not gonna happen before we leave!

Planning on spending a few days in savannah, glad to hear it is a good time!

And well, i will have to check out the boiled peanuts and BBQ, both sound pretty delicious. I also am teying to find this place in savanah that sells deep fried moon pies

I have a feeling it is on the historic strip where everything else is. Or try deep fried strawberries or deep friend cheesecake.

I saw 2 cops from FL to NC. And 10 in Va

Don't know how much time you have for detours but Charleston is awesome if you are into food, history, or whiskey. It's about an hour and 15 minutes off of 95. And +1 for whoever said Savannah.

Ive done that last winter when I was driving toyota. First we stopped at atlanta then another 10 hr to miami. not really a "road trip"

I lied! I drove by it yesterday. I only drove by, I didn't stop as I was trying to make it down without any unnecessary stops. But it looked like the buildings were repainted and looked pretty well kept up, however I didn't see very many cars there at all.

Boring road to nowhere. The only thing in the middle is the Pedro at south of the border. Other than that bring a buddy and pillow its dull.

Noted. I'm going to Atlanta on the 27th (not in 335 though), so I will check it out!

I have been told that the Distillery is a must stop at in Savannah, good booze, and deep fried moon pies.... sounds good to me!
