6 disk CD - Changer

Does the 6 disk cd changer play MP3- yes or no.
I have read in this forum some people say yes and some says no.
I choose the nav. system so it is important to me.

Unfortunately, no it does not. You need the Professional Radio, which I believe does not come with NAV. I think a software upgrade is in the works.

Hi flash

Flyboy-sa here in JHB cannot get it to play, he has professional NAV

A friend in England with no nav can play it in the changer

So we need someone else to test

It may just be a software thing, as 5 Series owners have been promissed they will be able to play MP3 in the dash slot from september's software. Non-nav 5 Series were promissed March, and they did get that upgrade and it works. So hopefully the E90 will get it aswell

Yes, when you take the car for a service they plug it into their computer and it downloads the latest software onto the car

Can anyone substantiate a possible update for US spec e90's with Idrive/Navigation that there will be a possible software upgrade that will allow the in-dash cd player to play mp3 cd's? I had always assumed it was a hardware limitation, not a software thing. Thanks.

I've been waiting over 1 year for the E60 update that will allow mp3s to play, I've pro nav and a 6 disc changer. From what I hear now, the current software will do it but only in the dvd drive....bugger-all use if you want to navigate as well!!!

Sad News. Dealer emailed me now - if you take nav it automatically deletes the radio with MP3 compatibility - but they said they can sell me an MP3 player at cost price ... so now I'm waiting to find out exactly wht that is a different radio they put in or a seperate item to clutter up the car inside.

In the brochure it indicates you can't get MP3 compatibility (in dash) with Navigation, but suggests that you can get MP3 to play with the CD changer.
