335i auto transmission fluid analysis
I just figured I'd add another data point on aging ZF "lifetime" ATF in case it helps anyone else.
Some background: The car was at 72K miles, a little under 6 years old, using factory fluid. Car has never been tracked (unless by previous owner) and I avoid redlining, although I'd say I drive it a bit more spirited than most. The fluid was pitch black when it came out, but did not smell burnt. The fluid actually seems to be just fine, spec-wise, although the transmission itself looks like it might have worn a bit. Oh and if anyone has any knowledge on this tranny and can provide any additional insight into the results (e.g. why the very high copper/other metal content) that would be great. |
