Basic Access Port questions

Just purchased me new cobb tune as of now I am running stage 1 aggressive I am curious about putting stage 2 aggressive on but am not sure if my care can handle it and dont want to mess around and harm the engine. All I have for performance mods is the BMS dual cone intake. Would my car be able to handle stage 2 given its current status. Also are there any new maps available that I can download that make the car faster? sorry for noob questions. thanks

No, you need downpipes to run stage 2.

Would it give the car an annoying loud sound or would the car sound the same? what about the warranty I assume it voids the factory warranty. sorry for the questions but you always seem to have right answers lol. thanks

Catless downpipes will make your exhaust slightly louder. It won't be annoying and you'll hear the turbos spool up a lot more! I'd hit up Alan************.com, he takes good care of all us e90post members!

+1

Louder turbo spool and your exhaust will be louder and a little raspier. If you are under warranty I wouldn't suggest downpipes unless you are cool with your SA/Tech, or you have the ability to take them on/off before service.

DPs were my first mod and I do believe they are important once we start modding... but if you want to make more power get an intercooler first. with an intercooler you'll be able to run stage1+ which gives you more power than stage2. now if you get an intercooler and DPs then you can run stage2+ which rocks

you will eventually buy both these mods, but thought ill give you a heads up so you can better choose your second mod

+1, if you want to maintain warranty, get a quality FMIC (ER, Helix, ETS, etc)

You won't get any fault codes (unlike the catless DPs) and the Service Dept won't have any idea that you've made this modification unless they specifically look for it. This way you get the additional power gains from running Stage 1+, the peace of mind of maintaining your warranty & without having to do anything besides flashing/uninstalling the AP from the car for any service dept trips

A lot of people seem to be disapointed when they go to stage 2 and downpipes, mainly cause the grunt of the OTS stage 2 maps is in the mid-range.

I think it would behoove you to look into an FMIC and downpipes at the same time. Stage 2 + will indeed make it worth it for you. I just remember a lot of guys getting disappointed when they go to stage 2.

At any rate the FMIC will help you gain back the top end and prevent heat soak.

Let me know if you have any questions we carry all the popular stuff and very familiar with what works and what doesnt.

If your not sure what modifications are needed for what stages you can reference more information on www.cobbtuning.com
