Dad bought it for me (flame guard on)
But I will be buying my next one myself once I finish uni and get a job, even if I have to finance it.

Saved and bought used outright. Have been driving Hondas and Subarus for years. It was time to see what BMW's were all about.

through a crazy car switch between my wife and mother in law I ended up paying for a car I didn't want (Civic Hybrid). Sold that and pay the same for my 07 335i. Plus I do all my own work to keep costs down; helps that it's my passion so I don't see it as working on my car, rather it's enjoying my hobby

The trick with affording luxury cars and aftermarket parts is buying used and finding a good indie shop or shade tree mechanic. I've paid roughly 1/3rd of retail for everything so far and it's been barely affordable. One huge problem though and it'll be a stinker.

I'm definitely looking forward to getting a new Subaru with a warranty someday though. They have a VIP program where you can buy new cars for up to 2% under invoice if you meet all the qualifications. That's the only way I could justify buying new.

New car for 2% off vs lease return for 33% off?

Granted, I'm sure Subarus have much lower depreciation, and granted, depreciation in LA is greater than most places, but still.
