Could a weak battery cause limp mode

Whenever I go WOT my 335i goes into limp mode but it doesn't throw a cel. I don't think its my fuel pump, could it be my battery because its been dying lately and I've had to jump start it

change your battery

weak battery could cause a lot of problem

I'd say it could be the battery too. Had a similar issue when my battery was dead/dying. You'd think the battery wouldn't be the culprit (esp after engine is running and alternator is cranking), but the electrical systems in these cars... Replaced my battery and no more limp mode / overheating for me. Also there may be shadow codes stored.

Weak batteries can cause a multitude of issues - do you have any codes stored? Or shadow codes?

Tried to read codes but there was nothing stored, i'm going to replace the battery today and see if it solves the problem

Agreed - weak batteries can cause all sorts of weird issues on these cars. There are so many sensitive electronics in them that low voltage can definitely screw things up, even if the alternator is good.

Also don't forget to have the battery replacement registered in the ECU. Currently only possible with INPA, GT1, Autologic (typically found at your local independent German car shop), or the dealer (ugh). I think they were working on something with the BT tool to do it as well.

I replaced the battery from a used 135i at my shop without registering it but the car cranks up fine with no warning lights on the dash, do i still need to register it ? Also my car still goes into limp mode with the new battery :/
