Water Pump - BMW 3-Series (E90 E92) Forum

at 55k miles my electric water pump failed. I bought the gold warranty, so it cost me $50. Otherwise it would have been $1000-1500. I wonder if the Texas heat and tracking the car played a role in its early demise?

These fail all the time around your mileage, some fail sooner and some fail later but its pretty normal.

Yep, that's within the expected range of failure. I've heard of some people's water pumps going at <30k miles, while others last over 70k. Luck of the draw, maybe, but I'd bet that an earlier failure rate is more common here in the South with the hot summers.

I'm praying that if mine decides to crap out soon, it does it before October 25 when my warranty is up. Fingers crossed! Lol

yup- at least a third of the cost of the warranty 5 months in. Thinking it was a good decision.

Thanks for heads up guys... Fiance's car just turned 60k and I made her aware of the potential problem. You may have inadvertantly saved her from a bad situation.

I was on the way to Taco Cabana down the street by my house. LOL. So i was close to home. Didn't need my car towed.
