That cable in that particular link would work then, right? Just reading some reviews on it...

Does anyone know where I can get a k+dcan cable for my 9/07 build 335i? All the links say out of stock? Found some on eBay, but they are from china (don't want to wait 3+ weeks for it to come and want a cable that others have used and know it works properly).

Just read the entire thread (as should anyone else BEFORE posting) and ill reiterate the general sentiment of thank you OP. This could be a great resource (I currently have no need thankfully and have an 06 330i that appears to not require battery registration, plus I have a year of unregistered battery as working evidence. Lets hope it keeps it up.)
I can't help but read this and feel like I'm back at work (I work in a high school) where kids immediately throw up their hands without trying/reading directions. OP, you have demonstrated great patience by answering the exact same questions over and over (and over...). I suppose you stand to gain clients but nonetheless, I offer a bravo to you. I've learned a lot on these threads and appreciate people like yourself who support us car nuts.

Thank you very much. Running four businesses that all require me to handle support questions has really helped groom me into a position of patience. Sometimes it slips a bit, though.

Hey Smooth,
If you were able to automate some of the most common coding changes people make I guarantee you would sell thousands of copies of your software. You should really consider it. I haven't used your software yet but I'm about to buy a cable for my old 330i and download it to read codes...thanks again for the free part. |

While aH changes require re-programming, do differences in CCA as well? Based on what I've read in this thread, this Autozone battery has 150/2 + 16 = 91aH, which is pretty darn close to the 90aH (and thus would not require programming) in my 08 335i. However the CCA is 900 while OEM is only 720. Thanks in advance.

![]() However I tried once more to register my battery but in a different method. I inserted my key, pushed the start button but didn't not start the engine. This time, it told me that registering was successful. *Donation made*.

Smooth:
My 335 is 3/2007 man date. I tried my K+DCAN USB interface with key in pos 2. Nothing. I tried the jumpered version (previous version to K+DCAN) and nothing. My OBDII plug lights up in both cases but nothing happens using the BMWLogger. Not sure what I am doing wrong. I also tried it with the engine running and with the key inserted as I have comfort access so it doesn't need to be in the slot. Thanks love what you have done but can't seem to get this going. Jumpered version?
Anyway, K+DCAN will talk to older and newer so either your cable or your port is not working properly. Or you didn't actually follow the steps outlined in the video. |

Well as an electrical engineer I think I followed the steps correctly and the older version of K+DCAN on some OBDII cables I have seen have a jumper that has to be attached to use pre 3/2007 versions.
I reloaded the sw and will try again but clearly there is no communication happening. Power is there but so far nothing else. Will report back once I try this again reloading the software... |

Just to clarify, the 2006 330 does require battery registration, and the module is accessible with the BMW software and the Bav Tech tool. I have done it. For some reason this software does not communicate properly with this module. If you do not register the battery, nothing will blow up or otherwise destroy your vehicle, but the battery life may be shortened.

Need some help here--
Loaded up the software and plugged in the cable. Software found the cable and all looked well. When trying to retrieve codes, I received an error message - "Unable to contact DME. Please make sure it is properly powered." or something very similar. Any ideas? I've tried with the key in with electrical power on as well as with the engine running. There is an orange light on the K+DCAN cable that lights on but turns off when the error message returns. Question-- Do I need to upload the software that came on the CD? Or is the windows driver good enough? **EDIT - I saw from earlier posts that this could mean the cable is bad? I contacted the vendor to ask for a replacement. Here is what I purchased--it looks identical to the amazon one, though that is sold out. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=380531426207 Last edited by badassfajita; 01-19-2013 at 02:37 PM. |

Read the line above those steps. The one you cutoff in your quote. It tells you exactly what it's for. |
