For most BMW problems start off by scanning your car with the BT Tool or Peake Research Tool. They contain the actual BMW codes as opposed to a generic OBII scanner. Pays for itself on the 1st scan. http://www.bavariantechnic.com/ OR
http://www.peakeresearch.com/ (less expensive, but does not reset battery info) |

Thanks Smooth, my WiFi should reach to the garage - I should have some time availability this evening or this weekend. I'll let you know...

hehe... Well, I can definitely remote in and figure out what's going on. If we can't figure it out that way you're only about 15 minutes from me. I'll be around on and off this weekend. Let's set something up for the remote. Shoot me an email Info at BimmerSoftware.com

I've been getting an "Unable to connect to DME. Verify that it is powered on" error message when I attempt to read the code list. I'm using Mac 10.7.4 and the blue OBDII cable recommended earlier. I have selected the cable in the preference pane too. I've also tried to connect both with the vehicle running and in ignition-on mode, to no avail. Any suggestions?

Planning on using older laptop with XP and have the coding cable already. I should be good to go them correct?
Thanks because I think I am going to need a new battery soon and hate the idea of registering the battery at the dealer... |

Depending what month your car was made in 07 it's either an MSV70 or an MSV80 and I know this is working with both. 03/2007 and newer MSV80 would require the K+DCAN cable (Mentioned on the software page with the links to the cables). You can't log without a license. If you were just checking codes you're welcome to grab the DEBUG version from bimmersoftware.com/software and send me the debug text file.
Also in the software area there are sample logs from MSV70 and MSV80 that you can check out. Last edited by smooth1; 08-28-2012 at 09:01 AM. |

Caught the Bimmer-Bug

OK.... so when I tried it a few weeks ago, I was getting the green block "ready to connect" on the bottom. Now, I cant get it to see my cable anymore.
The only thing I see different between then and now, is the software update BMW logger did. Computer is Macbook Pro. Cable still works, as I was connected with INPA with my PC laptop last night. Any thoughts? |
