I've been developing software for BMWs for a while now and I'm finally making some fun applications available to you guys, the enthusiasts. In doing so I've made some FREE options available to everyone, covering a very wide range of BMW vehicles.

These currently include:
Check Prominent and Shadow DME Codes, error code number is displayed. Still translating the descriptions from German to English for the newer vehicles, so full descriptions will be added in soon.
Clear DME Codes.
Clear All DME Adaptations.
Register A New Battery With IBS, as easy as choosing Register New Battery in the special menu.

No INPA/EDIABAS/DIS required, it's a standalone application. This works on Windows XP and newer or Mac OS X 10.5 and newer. All you need is a supported FTDI based USB K-Line or K+DCAN cable, depending on your model year, and you're good to go. Check out the tutorial video to see how to setup the software to use your cable. Enjoy!

Here's a link to the version that supports E90/1/2/3

If you have questions about the free features I'd be happy to respond here... If you have other questions please use email as this is not a commercial post.
Subscribed and thank you, this is epic!!!

Thanks Smooth, my WiFi should reach to the garage - I should have some time availability this evening or this weekend. I'll let you know...

Yeah, I'm over 40, so those newfangled interwebs and computing machines are more challenging than wrenches and sockets for me. I've found that tequila makes everything clearer, though...

hehe... Well, I can definitely remote in and figure out what's going on. If we can't figure it out that way you're only about 15 minutes from me. I'll be around on and off this weekend. Let's set something up for the remote. Shoot me an email Info at BimmerSoftware.com

I've been getting an "Unable to connect to DME. Verify that it is powered on" error message when I attempt to read the code list. I'm using Mac 10.7.4 and the blue OBDII cable recommended earlier. I have selected the cable in the preference pane too. I've also tried to connect both with the vehicle running and in ignition-on mode, to no avail. Any suggestions?

What are you trying to do? Check codes? I know it's working with MSV70 and MSV80. We have logs already.

Planning on using older laptop with XP and have the coding cable already. I should be good to go them correct?
Thanks because I think I am going to need a new battery soon and hate the idea of registering the battery at the dealer...

Should be good. Check codes first to make sure it's able to contact the DME and go from there.

I was just trying the software out to see what it could do, especially since the cable was only about 8 bucks on amazon, before looking into buying it. But yea, I was attempting to retrieve the code list and kept getting that error message

Depending what month your car was made in 07 it's either an MSV70 or an MSV80 and I know this is working with both. 03/2007 and newer MSV80 would require the K+DCAN cable (Mentioned on the software page with the links to the cables). You can't log without a license. If you were just checking codes you're welcome to grab the DEBUG version from bimmersoftware.com/software and send me the debug text file.

Also in the software area there are sample logs from MSV70 and MSV80 that you can check out.

OK.... so when I tried it a few weeks ago, I was getting the green block "ready to connect" on the bottom. Now, I cant get it to see my cable anymore.
The only thing I see different between then and now, is the software update BMW logger did.
Computer is Macbook Pro.

Cable still works, as I was connected with INPA with my PC laptop last night.

Any thoughts?

If you don't enter your password correctly it can't enable the drivers.

Is "None" selected in preferences under device? Is your cable in the list?
