I need a good wheel repair shop. I know there is "Ye Olde" in NOVA, but is there anything local? Thought I had read about a good mobile service somewhere around here?

Stay far away from wheel and rim repair. Personal experience and they ripped me off for doing almost nothing. Said they couldn't even get my Work 3 piece wheels apart, I did it with hand tools because I had to fix their screw up.

I've heard nothing bad about professional rim repair (?) out of chesapeake. I think thats the mobile one. Talk to John at Racewerks, he just had them come by while I was at the shop.

Okay, thanks guys, I'll give them a ring and see. Have a couple of wheels that had the finish damaged during the install so I guess I should have said I needed "re-finishing" not necessarily "repair."

I also want to make a few pull there (The only AWD dyno in town) but everytime i call, they are epic booked. Lol

Back to the Wheel Repair thing, yeah, Wheels and Rims Repairs are just a bunch of idiot trying to do some works. Brought my Volks there once asking for some polishing lip or chrome dip and they told me just buy the Autozone stuff and wish me luck....

I was talking about Professional Rim Repair, personally havent get any wheels refinish by them yet but i bring all my wheels there for tires mount/dismount and wheels cracks. They havent let me down yet and its reasonable pricing.
(I did see they did a polish lip wheels refinish once though....just a walk by, its not good....)

I've used Professional Rim Repair as well. I curbed my brand new M355's pretty bad, and they did me a solid and brought them back from the dead. While they couldn't perfectly reproduce the "machined gunmetal" finish, it's so close you would have a difficult time determining where the repair happened. Most definitely recommend.

steelersfan.......are you able to turn off the TPMS function via coding? the next set of aftermarket wheels i get will not have the sensors installed...and would like to not have to ride around with the amber light on the dash. i read it can be coded out...its an on/off type of thing. is this something you'd be willing to do/try?

Nice indeed. Wish we had weather warm enough that I could put mines back on. I swapped my 189's back on when it threaten to snow a few weeks ago , not that they would have made that much difference, but I didn't to get caught with summer tires on and have to get out on crappy roads.

It can be coded out, although it's not as simple as changing the functionality to "not active" or "nicht_aktiv" in German. Although I have never tried it, I've read it involves removing TPMS functionality parameter from your V.O. (Vehicle Order), which is the German's way of defining what features your vehicle have. I believe you also have to remove the fuse for TPMS. As far as if I would be willing to do or try it, that's totally left up to you. I have not attempted that coding before, and as I mentioned before I don't necessarily like to code (practice) on other people's ride's stuff I haven't successfully coded on my own ride first, but "TPMS Disable" isn't something I'm looking to do myself, so I guess someone has to be the "guinea pig". If you don't mind me asking, why aren't you doing TPMS sensors?

thanks steelersfan! to be honest these wheels will be replacing my OEM wheels so they're not that expensive...pretty much my "daily driving" wheels if you want to call it that. so i didn't want to invest too much which included the tpms sensors...those things aren't cheap. but you've kinda given me some food for thought....i may reconsider my thinking. i will be running a somewhat stretched tire so i'm not sure how feasible tpms sensors will be with this setup. guess i need to do more research...

Nick, I'm running a 265 on a 10in wide rear and 235 on 9in front. You should be able to see it in the pic. Its a little bit of a stretch but not that bad. The guys didn't have any issue installing the TPMS.

black e9x (dont ever remember what the coupe is) on 264 on my way home today. That was fun. I like tinted tails on that thing.

I was in my tan beater.
