New or used front diff?

Looks like a used front diff is around $500cdn but more than 3 times that for new. I will do the work myself but I don't want to do it twice. Not sure it makes sense to put in a diff with 80kmiles...but then again I'm not sure if my diff going out is a fluke. Comments welcome.

Thanks

These diffs are solidly built. I'd feel fine going used with miles under 60k.

Ya I would think that one from a stock 335xi would be in good shape and typically last the life of the car. Even on an FBO car the front diff would only see the equivalent of 200ftlbs max (I know this number would need to be x the 1st gear ratio but still)

I'm fbo with meth and at 96k miles and my diffs seem in great condition. You may have just had bad luck.

I hope so. I just picked up the used one and it looks pretty mint. I would love to take it apart to make sure it's all okay but not sure that can be done without messing it up.
