water pump and thermostat replacement.

Hey everyone so km in need of some help quick. I'm on vacation in upstate ny and my water pump went out. I purchased a new one and a thermostat online and got it in last night. I got the thermostat out after many hrs and only have the hoses and 1 bolt on the water pump holding the old one in. I can't get to it. How would.I go about dropping the subframe? Or getting a better angle. Thanks guys need this help asap!

You definitely don't need to drop the subframe. Try a wobble extension or a joint if you are having trouble getting to it. I don't recall having any issues getting to those two bolts but I have a good selection of joints and extensions from which to piece together something that worked.

I didn't drop the subframe when I did mine but it was a real challenge getting to all the hose connections etc. Now that I have done DP's and used the sub frame method I would def do the subframe drop to do the water pump. The six bolts that hold it are dead easy to get at as well as the 4 motor mount bolts. I supported the engine from the bottom. Can't imagine doing this on vaca however unless I was pulling a trailer full of tools...GL

Which bolt are you having issue with (upper or lower)? The lower bolt is a bit hard to get to because of how close it is to the subframe. I used 3/8 inch extension with a u-joint. I assume you unbolted the coolant lines and sway bar and moved them out of the way?
