First Time Buyer
Hey everyone,
My dad recently sold his BMW and upgraded his car. I loved his car and wanted to get something like it. I have been looking for a while now and cannot decide between the 325, 328 and 335. My budget is around $16,000 for the car (Used) and this is what I think im going to buy. If anyone experienced can tell me any of the downsides to this car it would be much appreciated. http://www.autotrader.ca/a/BMW/3%20S...howcpo=ShowCPO |

16k is a little low if you bump that up a bit im sure you can get a good deal just keep looking... that car's km's is really high for me... but if your ok with that then its up to you... i maybe wrong but i'm amusing on private sales you wont be able to get aftermarket warranty. if you can't my opinion pass. unless you only plan on keeping it for a short time...
mods are good. you wont have to much to do. (minus the rear AC lip) again just my opinion. |

I plan to have this car for another 4 years. Im 19 and this would be my second car (First being a 2010 hyundai Sante fei) do you recommend a 225 or 228? and before I buy I would take it to a good mechanic to make sure its running smooth. |

don't know the difference between the two as much to give any reason why other than i own a 328i lol. i just bought mine about a month now. I got mine with 63k for $20K. pretty good deal for me and the warranty was about 2k on top of that +taxes of course. my advise shop around... you can defiantly get something with lower km's for a bit more. I'm not sure about your insurance but Mine requires a picture for owners under 25 (i'm 23) to ensure no modifications. |

167k kms is a bit high, especially without warranty. You also have to remember that his car is pretty heavily modded (aesthetically at least) it might hint at the driving characteristics of the previous owner.
If this is your only option, ask them for a service report and ask them to pay for your PPI before you proceed with the payment although I really think that buying a high mileage BMW without warranty is quite risky.

High milage, already modified, a bit old...not a good find. You don't want something too heavily modified, chances are they already drove the hell out of it. I wouldn't trust the guy..I'd buy a stock 3er and do it all yourself so you're sure its been well maintained.

Just get a PPI done and ask for maintenance records, then decide. Just b/c the previous owner modified the car doesn't mean he abused it. A lot of enthusiasts mod their cars and take better care (maintenance) of the car than others. The plus, you can save a lot of money if you buy one modified already. GL
