Route 66 Warranty is Amazing (new turbos and more)

I just HAVE to share this...

I have the main street plan (mid-tier) and today I got word from my shop that they will be covering two new turbos, and a new oil pan gasket as well as 3 new coil packs that they covered a few weeks back (over $5,000 in parts/service)

They are a breeze to work with and very responsive, they also cover the parts (minus tax) if you want to do the work yourself. They barely even ask for diagnostic proof of the issue, big selling point for me.

Here's the story... I took my car into my shop for a misfire on Cyl 5 thinking it was an injector and he called back saying that the injectors looked good but my spark plug backed out? (I'm an idiot).... he also mentioned that there was a pretty obvious leak from both turbos and my oil pan (explicitly not covered in my plan) was leaking. He went ahead and called Route 66 to ask about coverage, they were a little vague over the phone on my coverage as I don't have the bumper-to-bumper plan.

He proceeded to pull apart the downpipes to view inside the turbos for proof and was able to show them an obvious leak from the seals. Because of these two leaks, I was losing about 1 quart per month and this is ultimately why they covered the maintenance, 'risk of Oil loss' and because I paid the turbocharger surcharge (couple hundred extra) - not really sure why they covered the oil pan gasket but I just got an early birthday present, that's for sure.

All in all, I paid $2200 for a 3yr,36k plan at 90k miles and they are covering all of this now at 97k miles. Their plans are transferrable as well if you sell the car or, listen to this... if you want to cancel, you can receive a pro-rated refund. It's almost too good to be true... I just HAD to share this.

UPDATE:

Now, 3 months later my Camshaft bearing ledges go out, replaced through warranty with no issues... $1700 job. Also had my starter replaced 2 months ago with no issues from them, $1200 job.
- Creeping up onto $10k in covered repairs. Good ol' N54.

Feel free to reach out if you have any questions or want more info on their plans.

Interesting... I've been thinking about trading in my car for something else due to reliability worries (no actual problems, mostly just paranoia, this forum will do that to you) but if the warranty is reasonably priced, I might hold off on that.

very interesting as my turbo's might be going soon. Getting wastegate rattle at this point. Oil pan is leaking slightly as well. Might check them out.

My shop was pretty shocked how easy it was, and my BMW SA also said they're reliable and honest for a 3rd party warranty. I also have their cheaper plan because they didn't offer the exclusionary plan past 80k miles, I can't imagine how great their exclusionary plan is...

I've read about them on the M5 forums and some people were getting 10k+ in repairs done, I think they have stopped covering M-series cars but they only charge a little extra for BMWs and Turbo'ed cars. You can find them through a bunch of different Credit Unions, I was speechless when I got the news - I thought they would for sure deny this claim.

I paid a little over $2k for 3yr/36k miles with a car almost to 90k miles... If you sign up with lower miles you can pay substantially less, around $1500 for a longer coverage period and bumper-to-bumper.

FBO...

Indy shops have the same incentives that you do, if you win, they win.

Most don't care if you're modded.

Sorry, I don't have DPs...

I took them off a week or so ago because of some smoke due to the bad seals. Most Indys are still willing to work with you though, modded or not...

It seems it is offered when you finance the car. Doesn't seem like you can get it without a financial institution. Or so the website reads.

So this warranty doesnt have to be purchased through a dealer right? So if I wanted to buy an e46 M3 (private party) with 100k miles and was worried about maintenance costs I could just buy the plan?

Sounds too good to be true.

I'm glad to hear it worked out for you though. Congrats!

Most Credit Unions will allow you to buy this stand alone without financing the car through them.

I think my shop just took pictures and emailed them over. For this claim, the insurance company didn't send anyone out to check out the car. (I know that they sometimes do this) so you would likely want to put your car back to stock. Either way, great coverage...

They will not cover M-series cars or anything older than 8yrs or so.

They don't cover M cars, at least I don't think.

They also offer different types of coverage depending on your car's age and mileage. You would need to contact a CU that carries their plans.

Try Provident Credit Union out of SF.

Wow, they gave you the Easy Street plan with that many miles!? So jealous...

I was only offered the Main Street plan when I decided to add it at 89k miles.

Interesting list of excluded vehicles...

https://www.penfed.org/rt66exclusions

I wonder why they won't warranty Z3s, Audis, and Fiats.

That is correct, they don't cover M or 7-series BMW's.

I got my easy street with 99,700 miles on my Odometer. As long as your under 100k and under 10 years old, you can go east street.

Wow, even after just scoring $5k in new parts, I feel screwed. jk

Haha I'm considering just canceling for a refund and going through PenFed since I'm under 100k.
