Not sure on how far apart the bars are as I'm on the road now. They're as far apart as the box allows. They're not strut assisted per se but are sort of spring assisted. The lid holds itself open perfectly well and weighs nothing. It also opens from either side which is massively useful.

I can measure the bar to bar distance when I get home tonight if you need.

It's actually surprising just how much stuff the box will swallow too. Mines a 3/4 width one too so I could still get a bike on top too if needs be!

Thinking of throwing the little one in there then Jat or just the mrs?!

That info would be great when you get a chance.

Looks smart! Will this fit an E90 without catching on the boot lid when opening?

I need to get one soon but there are so many and I don't know how big to go. I guess as big as possible, but I don't know if there maximum practical size with regards to stupid looking over hangs etc?

Aha! That was the picnic I used to show the mrs what it would look like before I bought the box!

Jat, haven't measured up yet, but here's the original order.

The following details have been forwarded to The Roof Box Company:

TU757 - Foot Pack: Thule Rapid System roof rail clamps (4) no. 757
1 x 69.50 = 69.50

TU961 - Thule WingBars: Thule Rapid System 118cm WingBars (2) no. 961
1 x 71.95 = 71.95

TU679-3 - Medium-Long Medium-Wide roof box: Thule Atlantis 780 gloss black roof box no. 679-3
1 x 314.85 = 314.85

TULB01 - Our unique lock matching service for Thule locks: Please delete this line if you do not wish to participate
6 x 3.00 = 18.00

FS131 - Free box hoist: Fasty BOX HOIST - Roof Box Company
1 x 0.10 = 0.10

TU697-4 - Roof box adapters: Thule Power-Grip T-track aerobar roof box adapters no. 697-4
1 x 20.95 = 20.95

DEL002 - Standard 2 to 3 day delivery (UK mainland, roof boxes / bike boxes)
1 x 9.50 = 9.50

Total including VAT at 20%: 504.95

The one key thing was really good. Basically, they send you out 6 locks which you swap with the ones that come with the bars and box and you send those back - once they receive them they refund you the 18. Means that the box and bars all use the same key. Most useful!

Oh and those T-track adapters replace the claw things that come with the box. As I said earlier, or maybe in the other thread, the claw mount takes up a lot of room in the box (9cm off the bottom of it). The T-track thing is a screw thread that goes into the roof bar and then you drop the box onto them. The only thing inside the box then is a little rail and a wing nut type nut that goes not the screw. Much more secure IMHO and while it seems like a faff putting the screws on the rails each time, it's only an extra 2 mins and I reckon it's much more secure.

Mines the BMW version but looks very much like a Thule made special, although the the BMW box track fixings don't fit Thule roof bars

Yup. Comes in silver (grey) or gloss black. The only negative about the gloss black is that it picks up scratches like nobody's business. Haven't tried to polish them out though to be fair - its a roof box!!

Well the box is here, tipping it down with rain so literally had to just throw it on the roof to see what it looks like. Will be taking the fast claw things out and using the t bar fittings so it will sit a little lower. So any experts.... should it be mounted further forward or backward or is it right lol

I do not think it looks too bad at all
