Playback Advice

Hey guys,

I have a question.

I have a standard bmw setup consisting of a CD73 headunit (BMW professional) with a 3.5mm jack in the glovebox as an aux port.

I wanted to be able to play music from a memory stick or an ipod, although the headunit is mp3 compatible you can only fit so many onto a rubbish 700mb disc.

So to try and get this functionality I installed a parrot Mki9200. After a few power wiring issues I got it to work, itís a great hands free kit but for play music itís not brilliant at all to say the least. Obviously as the head unit thinks itís a phone as its using telephone mute on streaming you cannot adjust the volume or change any of the Bass/Trebble etc settings.

Next step was using a RCA Something like this (Autoleads PC1-610 - 2 Channel Speaker to Phono RCA Convertor) So I wired the outputs from the parrot to this and used a phono to 3.5mm jack connector to pass this though the AUX connector in the centre console. Turned off mute on streaming on the parrot and Harrah!! it work. Itís great I have my music, I can control it with the parrot and still have my parking sensors tone etc

Then I hit a brick wall. I put the gain up to the maximum and now I have great sound but even at full volume on the head unit and parrot itís just about listening level. So if I want to crank up the volume a little bit more I cant. Plus if I accidently turn to tuner it blows my ears off and possibly the speakers if I forget to turn it down.

What I am looking for is something cheap-ish that I can run that will play my mp3's as well as be able to have the parking sensors etc and so I donít get any issues with the vehicle keep the existing head unit (as I have heard other people have had issues changing head units to a 3rd party manufacture)

Thanks in advance for the help!
