Plasma Coils by Ignition Project?

Has anyone heard of these or used them? Any opinions welcome... Any bhp/tq increase?

Idea: coils and remap ignition timing...

These might be a waste of money...

they cost alot, i guess its worthwhile only when you are replacing your OEM coils & sparks

Here is the web link: http://ignitionprojects.com/product

It kind of makes sense at face value... the website hints that it is used by race teams.

Cannot seem to find much else on plasma coils bar one review but talking to a tuning company they think it might be worth a try.

The review I found is here and he suggests 2.5 HP and 2 MPG gain from these alone although he is Stage 2 tuned. He talks about the plus points too: http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/in...?topic=49875.0

Update: Now finding a few more links... suggesting 5-10HP gains and outlasting OEM coils by 4 times.

5-10hp from swapping coils? I don't buy it. I know N/A gains are difficult on the N52 but you're looking in the wrong place.

sounds like a CDI system. If it is - stick with stock.

Looks more like a 2.5hp gain on his dyno results but that 2.5 could have come from anywhere there are so many variables.

The 5-10hp results come from some subaru impreza owners who have done similar dyno run comparing with and without plasma coils.

Want to see it to believe it but finding some old thread on here about the N54.
