Exhaust: Weld vs clamp?

I have an exhaust muffler set.. I am wanting to cut my current exhaust into 3 pieces, then replace the mufflers. I heard that leaking through gaskets is an issue.. Should I just weld my exhaust on or get some copper gaskets and clamp it on?

If done right, clamping is just as good as welding.

^ I always hear that, but prefer weld over clamps if possible. That my own opinion tho. Best of luck.

I know you didn't ask for anyone's opinion about this, but I highly recommend you don't cut your stock exhaust. I know the aftermarket stuff is pricey, but you will hate yourself when you go to sell or trade it. I've chopped the exhaust on every new car I've owned, ended up buying aftermarket exhaust anyway, and scurried to find an unmolested stock exhaust when I wanted to trade the car in (currently going through this with my '11 mustang gt). I've regretted it every time. How about megan cat-back?

Vbands are super cool but also your most expensive solution.
